That if the PSP2 came out that it could be powerfull enough to emulate ps2 and have ps2 games up for download on the psn store?
just a thought. it would be pretty sweet.

it could very well be that powerful. i wont need it cuz i got a PS2 allready. however that would be pretty cool.
Let me show you some facts. PSP's CPU can go up to 333MHz while the PS2's CPU is 299MHz, PSP's ram is 64MB while PS2's is 32MB, and PSP's GPU is 166MHz wihle the PS2's GPU is 147MHz. The PSP is already stronger than the PS2. The only problem with the PSP in making games look better is battery life(it would take too much energy) and memory(DVDs can hold up to 8.5GB on dual layer while UMDs hold up to 1.8 GB. If they can increase battery life and make a bigger memory stick or internal hard drive, the PSP could make better graphics. The PSP2 will probably have better graphics than PS2.
On the other hand, the PSP's screen resolution is 480x272 compared to PS2's 704x480.
So the PSP, while having stronger specs, can't really bring more detail to the graphics due to a much restrained resolution. Graphics may looks on par, or similar to those on the PS2, but won't be looking any better.
The fact that the PSP's resolution is lower also means that the whole games' assets will take less space on the storage media. In the end, the PS2 still have the edge, even though the raw specs are slightly lower. Having more storage on the PSP wouldn't magically inprove the assets resolution, which again, are restricted to the hardware's low res screen.
cool facts by the above two posters, so maybe they shouldn't improve the hardware but improve the power consumption used by the cpu and umd drive and increased battery life, and possible a HD screen as Sony has started doing that the new sony erricson, and internal HD only small like 16gb to have mandatory installs to helps games run smoother
Easily, from what I heard the PSP2 will have graphics almost on par with the HD consoles of today.
If it happens on the PSP2 ( and I think it will) it will happen on the PS3 (all of them).
Would be a good money maker for Sony (and the third party). Forget the new games on the system, I would buy one just to play the large JRPG library on the Go.

One more advantage the PSP has is that its screen resolution is sub-SD, which gives developers more headroom in exchange for a lower resolution image.
However, as far as I know, the PSP is incapable of any form of anti-aliasing, thus making even the best looking games a jaggy mess.
