PSP's CPU can go up to 333MHz while the PS2's CPU is 299MHz, PSP's ram is 64MB while PS2's is 32MB, and PSP's GPU is 166MHz wihle the PS2's GPU is 147MHz. The PSP is already stronger than the PS2. The only problem with the PSP in making games look better is battery life(it would take too much energy) and memory(DVDs can hold up to 8.5GB on dual layer while UMDs hold up to 1.8 GB. If they can increase battery life and make a bigger memory stick or internal hard drive, the PSP could make better graphics. The PSP2 will probably have better graphics than PS2. |
One more advantage the PSP has is that its screen resolution is sub-SD, which gives developers more headroom in exchange for a lower resolution image.
However, as far as I know, the PSP is incapable of any form of anti-aliasing, thus making even the best looking games a jaggy mess.
