So blame the PS3 for lackluster weekly sales!!

no. blame sony. they were unprepared and cost them selvies alot in sells. well we could blame both?

Actually it was their genius idea to start manufacturing on a revised unit before demand died down.  They had plenty of preparation for the initial rush of the Slim.  IMO, they should have waited till right about now to start manufacturing the new units rather than miss out on so many sales over the last few months.  Summer is the slower time anyway so it wouldn't be hard for them to meet demand while working on the new revision.

utter fail from sony.

they should have shipped far more its thier own fault for not fully capitalising on demand.

thanks for the info. and i agree with your op.

well, it was more or less know
this is what we are talking about since 5 months : stock issue for the PS3 in NA

In a way, this is a slow period ... it is not that bad at the end.

Time to Work !

GS is the biggest game retailer, but they are not the only retailers for video game hardware. There is also Wal-Mart, Target, Toys-R-Us and Amazon. When the Wii was out of stock, it was out of stock everywhere. They were also selling for far more then their actual value. Seeing as you don't here much about PS3 for $600 on Ebay recently, I doubt there is some big shortage. It's more likely that fewer were shipped than demand exceeded supply.

Sony FAILS fighting the shortages, they should fight them with a stick, a STICK!

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

but there were some on amazon for 350 or so instead of 300

Two things fail:

1. Sony. Seriously? The slowest time of the year and you can't keep up stock?

2. ioi and everyone else who have claimed the PS3 is and has NOT been supply constrained in the US. I've argued up and down that it has been, and everyone claimed we were biased fan boys. 90% of the time I'm in a store that sells PS3s and I check, they are out.

Regardless, hopefully the new SKU's start hitting stores at a decent clip now, as I want one....

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

gamestop is usually sold out of everything though, too be honest. they are the company that tells you "better pre order game x or we might not have enough!" when target or wal mart always has millions

i have a hard time believing in ps3 shortages after it only sold 180,000 last month.

I think it's a Sony production problem, GS is the biggest gamestore in the US and the PS3 is actually selling less then other consoles weekly and it's still in shortage.

I think this cancels itself out, as the shortages are probably the culprit for the lower sales.

To the topic, it could be that they have a newer model ready to splash. Not necessarily as big of a difference from the fats to the slim, but a smaller, lighter version of the current slim.

hopefully a SKU that has BC built back in as I refuse to purchase a brand new console otherwise.
