I don't quite agree with the whole "you should never sell an old console" motto that some people have around here; at the end of the day you got nearly $300 for it, sure not nearly as much as you paid for everything when you first got it but it's still a good chunk of money. No use letting it depreciate further in value if you don't use it; it's not like you've only had it for a few months, 3 years is more than enough time to decide whether or not you like a product.

I did like it at first, I enjoy playing some of the games and it brought back good memories from the day I used to play Mario on my N64 or even the day I got my Gameboy, but the thing is I could never really get into it and not understand how people were going nuts over it. I do agree with the part of being "innovative" and "different", although I have the feeling that many of the nearly 70 million Wii's are gathering dust as many of my friends have not used it in a long time. Anyhow, I feel I did the right thing.

I knew I'd find a comment along these lines.

I don't see why it's necessary for you to make a thread for this (or, at the very least that particular thread title / poll). You don't like the console, so you sold it, and that's understandable, but no matter how polite your post was the title still seems like a rallying call to find those who agree with you - your dislike for the Wii, that is. More specifically, calling out to all those who were "tricked" into buying the Wii, with you assuming that it's a large number. It's just an invitation for these questionable characters to butt in and claim, "Yes, I sold my Wii because it sucks," when it's doubtful they ever even had one.

The fact that the console continues to sell, and that its used price isn't exactly low means people are holding onto the thing. We also already know that word of mouth is heavily responsible for sales, so people are satisfied with the console. It's not that hard to believe.

As for my opinion on selling consoles, if it won't see much use, there's no reason to hold onto it. I obviously disagree with those saying you should hold onto your consoles forever, because the money you can trade it in for is always useful. Besides, if you don't like what the Wii has to offer now, you probably never will, as I feel its main strength is in local multiplayer games. You can always use one of your friends' Wii's that are supposedly collecting dust if there are any must-have single player experiences later in its life.

Excuse me Sir, I never intended on starting a "rallying call" as you like to call it. I never stated that I dislike the Wii or that I was tricked into buying it. I wanted to experience it for myself, I wanted to know why everyone else was buying it, but I did not buy it because everyone else was/is buying it. There is a small but significant difference. I stated the positive experiences I had and that I enjoyed many of the games it offers, but at the end of the day I did not find it that appealing to me and my personal likes of gaming.

I did not intend to offend you or anyone else with this thread, I simply wanted to share this with the community and get an opinion.

What a great thread that I've seen about 5,782 times since 2007.

Good job!!!

Really? :( my bad, just wanted to share a personal experience with the community.

Yeah.  I get it.  I sold my Wii because it collects dust, did you?

Tell me why.  Do you think that it sucks too?

I've seen these threads before.

Anyway, have fun.

Well, I have been very polite and neurtal with my post and I never said that it "sucks" or that it is bad. It simply lost its appeal to me over time and I figured it would be better to sell it to someone who would actually use it. Simple and straight forward, other people might do the same with their PS3 or X360, to each their own.

I actually sold mine because it was covered in dust. I plan to buy a new clean one with the money.

If you're being honest, then I apologize.

It's just that I've seen way too many of these types of threads baiting people.

OT I think that it's a mistake since Nintendo has three games coming out this summer: SMG 2, Sin and Punishment, and Metroid: Other M.

Yep sold my wii about 3 months ago, got a nice amount for it to boot.

No regrets really, used the money to buy my self a couple of PS3 games.

There seems to be three constants in the universe; death, taxes, and snobby HD console gamers claiming they sold their Wii because it "collects dust." Seriously, if you can't find enough good games on Wii at this point, you simply aren't looking hard enough. Or else you are extremely picky when it comes to games. Plenty of great Wii games to keep the dust off your Wii.. I mean at $200 Wii is practically an impulse purchase at this point.

Yet so many people don't seem to mind pouring monthly fees into Xbox live, spending $600 on a console, $100 limited edition COD with night vision goggles, or forking out endless money on ripoff downloadable content.. But a $200 console from Nintendo? God forbid!

Wow, so with your newly earned $200 you can now buy a whopping 3 $60 HD games (with taxes) that you will probably get bored with anyway. Congratulations. -_-

Boggles the mind..

according to your profile you have 69 PS3 games.... if you had the wii just as long and only had 10 games, this means one thing:

-> you never even gave the Wii a chance.

I see you have tiger woods 2010.... on PS3, when the game was said all arround to be the best golf game ever in it's Wii iteration...more proof of my point.

Now you seem to have gotten plenty of good games, and there are still plenty to come, so I don't think you'll be missing the wii.

However, getting the move does sound stupid for you....but if you do and love it, you'll know that you're (unwillingly it seems) very biased in your tastes.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I have found that people who sell their consoles often come to regret it later.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
