A few days ago I decided to pull the plug on my Wii which had been gathering dust for quite some time now. I put it back in its original box, two Wiimotes + 2 Nunchucks along with a Classic controller, 10 games which I am not going to list, but if you know your Wiibrary you can pretty much figure it out. I even threw in my two sets of recharagable batteries along with their charger.

All in all i sold it for $275 and made another person very very happy.

I bought it back in 2007 as the Wiihype was spreading faster than any virus ever featured in Resident Evil, I admit that Wii Sports was fun, especially the tennis and bowling. Zelda, Mario and so on were fun too, but I just never felt 100% comfortable with the Wii, I longed for my PS3 controller which felt alienated as it stared at me in disbelief. Therefore I decided to sell it, I did not bother with trading it in or anything, I just sold it.

To be fair I have always been a Sony gamer and I will definitely pick up Move when it comes out later this year. I know some of you will say that I am a hypocrite or fanboy, but I find the HD + Motion + Blu-Ray + 3D +Everything a better solution for my personal needs. Move is probably going to feel the same, but I hope it will be a more positive experience for me. True that I will be missing out on a few great games, but you cannot catch 'em all. Therefore, I am sticking to what I like and what appears to be more convinient for me. The price is not an issue, as I and many others will pay money for something they like or want.

Do I sound reasonable? Am I alone? Did I make the biggest mistake..ever?

I won't and I never will. I don't sell my consoles, and if I did I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it on a forum.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Nope, only system I have ever sold was PSP.

Probably PS3 when I am done with FF13.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Yes, I plan to sell, one year I don´t play with it...

Now my PSP has good games (PixelJunk Monsters, Mod\nation, MGS5.. etc..) and my PC and PS3 has good games... I don´t use my Wii anymore... I was trying to convince my wife to buy a WiiFit... but she´s not interested...

My last hope is my son start interacting with it... (wii)

PSN: franco-br
MGS4, GH, MW2, GT5p, WipeoutHD, etc..etc..

Depending on your situation, you picked the worst time or the best time to ditch the console. If you're into motion controls but don't really care about Nintendo's offerings, now is the time to jump ship, but if you like Nintendo's offerings, now's the worst time to lose your nerve.

I've seen quite a few people about the internet who lamented selling their Wii back when it was cool to hate Nintendo in 2008, because of either Other M, Last Story, Monster Hunter 3, or Galaxy 2, or some combination thereof.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Although I'd never sell my Wii, unless to upgrade to a different type, your reasoning sounds fair enough and doesn't come off as bad as I expected.

I was about to rip you a new one!

Why thank you :) you have no idea how good it feels to receive encouraging feedback. TBH I was not quite ready for you to "rip me a new one" :|

I sold 20 of them within the first year of it's release making a nice fat profit!

But my original Wii from day 1 is still here, used almost every day and still going *strong.

*this is because of the non inclusion of the Sony exclusive 'break down just out of waranty chip'.

:0P

I sold mine , quickly , It just does not have near the gaming experience I get from my PS3 and 360, everybody wants something different I guess, We bought the Wii because of Mario, Then my family played Little Big Planet on PS3, and they never touched the Wii again, so It had to go.

I used to sell my Wii in high school. I needed the money.

You have your reasons, you could have also sold it for a bit higher price (10 games are still 10 games)...My only concern it's that's a pity to sell the wii during what is turning to be its best year, on the other hand the move is probably better in terms of response, but we don't know what games will come out for. I would have waited E3 if I were you.
