So much for "PSN will always be free".

£50 is about $80-$85 I think (and Euros, oddly).

What suprises me here is that people are ALREADY being pulled in by the marketing spin. Ooh ooh! A free game every month! Well it isn't free, is it? You're paying for it in the subscription charge! The beauty of the model is that you PAY to get 'FREE' stuff. The other extras, like a music streaming thing, will cost a little for Sony to set up, but then next to nothing to run in the long term. Similarly, bonuses like giving new features to premium users, or updating premium user's PSN store a day earlier, again would cost nothing to Sony. It's just a gimmick to ensure that Sony can pull you into spending a dedicated amount of money on PSN every year - i.e., to ensure they make money.

AND do you really expect the 'free' games to be top of the line ones? No, they'll be games over a year old and under £5 each when bought normally, anyway.

sounds good but i dont belive in the section where article talks about cross game chat, its the most heavily requested feature and will surely be on psn soon. but its more than likely to be in the premium service.

the only thing that could tip me to pay the < £50 a year is if they include for premium users a massivly overhauled and superfast browser

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

umm i disagree, if the premium content includes more features and one free game a month i know tons of friends on my list that are willing to pay the 60 or whatever a year , its going to equal out to 5 or so dollars a month thats absolute peanuts for a better online service, millions of people around the world pay 15 bucks a MONTH to play a single game (mmos)

Hmmm, free game?

That would be trying to cut into the "5 players joining to buy one game"-tactic that is probably cutting into their profits now.

Take one person from those five, make him pay 9 pounds instead of perhaps 2 when he shared.... more money incoming.
