Forums - Nintendo - Reggie: There is no secret Wii warehouse.

Okay people, slow down.

Three people have all pointed out the issues here in quick succession (including me). This is simply Reggie saying: "We aren't holding back stock to spur demand, that would be stupid," and that's it. The end.

nevermind

To spur demand is to increase demand.

They arent holding back any wii's to increase demands. Like I said before the wi might not be the best selling console this holiday season if they only manage to sell about 2 million units in 1 month WW.

Spurring a dead horse doesn't get it going any faster. How many of the "Like I said" statements of yours have been correct?

For anyone that thought they were stock pile wii's it would just be unrealistic. WHy would nintendo spend money to stockpile wii's, when they can easily just sell them to retailers and make money?

 Approximately less than zero.

He didn't say anything about them not having secret pocket dimension though.

1- Because the holiday season is the most important sales period of the year. If a kid wants a Wii for Christmas and his/her parents can't find one, there's a possibility they'll get a 360 or PS3 instead.

2- An even simpler way to look at it is that it's a good business principle to try to match demand with supply as much as possible. Demand is higher in Christmas, so supply should also be higher.

3- To get a load of free advertisement in newspapers ("Wii wins holiday sales" articles)

Well he does have a point to Nintendo once the Wii is sold to the retailer they got their money. Its not so much Nintendo stocking these as it is the retailers I would think like Bod was telling us in the Toysrus thread they had tons of Wii's in the system for the Sunday after Black Friday and beyond. Bring them in with the Wiis then get them to buy other things when pocketbooks are at their loosest. For a retailer a Wii sold during December probably makes more total money than one sold on the 2nd week of November.

Yes he has a point, but not necessarily a very meaningful one. There are a lot more factors than immediate money. Do you think that the cost of stockpiling some Wiis for a few months is not worth all the things I enumerated above?
