bethesda touched on it a bit with oblivion by letting you become a vampire, but your right a game with them at the centre of the story would be good

Ah Bethesda....could they be more awesome? There were vampires in Fallout 3 also, but you couldn't become one(as far as I know).

They would be great contenders for developers of an open world Vampire game, but I'd also like your character to be able to perform some of the physical vampire actions, like jumping high, and running fast, ect, and their RPGs tend to be slower paced in physical movement at least.....but I'd still play the shit out of whatever they released.

Were there?! Are you getting it confused with Oblivion? lol in which case you could turn into a vampire but it was a bloody nightmare!

yea they where the cannibals, the guy that was in charge taught them to drink blood instead of kill at eat a person. I remember hearing about an illness I believe this was based upon. I think it had something to do with lack of iron in your blood. its solved through people watching there diet and making sure they get enough iron or whatever it is they are lacking. in fallout its hard to get food, and with the radiation and stuff it could be an extreme case of this.

correct me if I am wrong
stop me if I am bias
I love a good civilised debate (but only if we can learn something).

Guys, I don't want bullshit excuses about how something is too hard, I want my damn vampire game. FFS, give me a game with Lestat as the main character and watch gaming shit and die from greatness.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Vampire Rain pretty much killed a lot of peoples dreams lol

It's just that simple.

Like others have said Legacy of Kain is in a much needed revival.

The market for this vampire resurgence is primarily women. That's why it hasn't translated into videogame form yet. Let the Right One In is an obscure foreign film with limited market appeal. It's Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and dozens of book series aimed towards females that are pushing vampires forward as a marketable entity. I mean in New York the Sookie Stackhouse novels are shamelessly promoted on Z100 every morning on Elvis Duran's morning show.

When there is a push to include males into this monster genre, there will be videogames to accompany it.

True Blood was written for women..

Thanks to Onyxmeth, my brain is full of fuck right now.

Pixel Art can be fun.

It can't be that hard to make a vampire game nowadays, since one of the most popular interpretations of the monster is a flat-out Villain/Anti-Hero Stu. Just stick fangs and generic superpowers to random people, change the setting to eternal night and add a crapload of sex, angst and goth crap. Bang, you're done.

Now, making a vampire game that isn't just a godmoded Prototype with a few vampire-themed tack-ons might be more of a challenge. Or hell, making one that would actually be interesting and well written, for that matter, since IMO that would actually require breaking the mold of the current KEWL vampire - that is, presenting the monster with actual weaknesses and inner conflicts that WereKitten mentioned (assuming the character is good).

Vampire Games I'll buy over Zombie Games anyday unless if it's related to Twilight...

I take it you never played a Legacy of Kain game.

I've only briefly played Blood Omen with one of my late friends, but I wouldn't mind more games like that. :p
