I think they man that the money is on HD consoles.

Epic is developing themselves into a corner.

Eh.  Maybe 1% of Epics money actually comes from developing.

Leasing out the Unreal Engine for PS360 games... THAT is their moneymaker.  That's why they're quick to "defend the shield" when it comes to the HD consoles.

As far as I know... UE3 isn't NEARLY as popular on PC then as it is on console.  You see this with Epic in pretty much every statement they make... they want their customers to develop themselves in a corner so they buy the UE3 engine.  Since they don't have a Wii engine and most PC devs are oldschool.

  1. BlackSite: Area 51
  2. Borderlands
  3. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
  4. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  5. Damnation
  6. Frontlines: Fuel of War
  7. Gears of War
  8. Hour of Victory
  9. Mass Effect
  10. Mass Effect 2
  11. Medal of Honor: Airborne
  12. Mirror's Edge
  13. Legendary
  14. Section 8
  15. Stranglehold
  16. The Last Remnant
  17. Tom Clancy's EndWar
  18. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
  19. Turok
  20. Unreal Tournament 3

All PC realeses. Im sure there are others, these are just the ones off the top of my head.

How many of them were devloped for consoles first, and PC just got a piss poor port afterwards?

Take Mass Effect 2 for instance, the textures were identical to the consoles version, it had no keyboard shortcuts like the first one, and you didn't have an option to turn AA on in game and had to force it.

so your saying PC gamers are spoiled elitist that can't enjoy good games?

doesn't have keyboard shortcuts=crappy console port

doesn't have AA option shitty console engine

Sure are a bunch of weak excuses in here.

Well that's a flawed argument if ever I saw one. It's got nothing to do with elitism and everything to do with being a different platform with different strengths and weaknesses.

If a developer creates a Wii game, then they'll likely implement motion controls, because it's where the platform shines. On PC, you have access to a keyboard with multiple shortcuts, it's not difficult to add in. Another advantage is the ability to tweak graphical settings yourself, which includes anti-aliasing.

I'm not going to say that it's not possible to do a good port, as Mirror's Edge was done nicely and added PhysX support, although took a few extra months to release. However, unlike in previous years, it seems the Unreal engine 3.0 is used primarily as a console engine, and games are ported to PC after. In previous years, a PC engine game got ported down to consoles. In fact, I believe Epic were the ones who convinced Microsoft to double the RAM available in the 360 to 512Mb after they showed what was possible with the engine on Gears 1 with the extra RAM.

well it's true, the money is on consoles.
Big PC games don't sell as much.

lol so my post about PC guys being Spoiled Elitist that don't like good games was right? oh noes game is on consoles, wut do? Call it shit and not buy it. What ever; People like that are part of the reason devs have moved away from the pc crowd. I remember being on the Bethesda boards when Oblivion was in development. PC guys were crying because they were showing off the xbox version and not the PC version. Then they showed the PC version and they cried,"Console port confirmed why does Bethesda hate us so", because the font was to big. Just shut up and enjoy the games.

Actually being spoiled is the exact opposite of not liking good games.

I can also guarantee you that you can ask anyone who has played for a while and they will tell you that Oblivion is the worst Elder Scrolls game. Morrowind is still the best of the 4, and then Daggerfall. Oblivion is not a good game that can be "just enjoyed" considering its predecessor was clearly better.

Err ?

The runner up for must bugged game of all time is one of your favorite game ?

I have never ever seen a more bugged game on windows..

I lost count of how many times my character fell through the world or moved from one area to another area not connected to it by moving through the void in between them............

And don't get me started with Daggerfall randomly generated PoS dungeons.......

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I think it won't take long untill Blizzard starts console development, too.

Look at former PC studios like Epic Games, Valve, iD or Infinity Ward (They were focused on PC with MoH and CoD 1 / 2).

Blizzard is the only one left. There will always be a Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo or WoW. But I think they might create a new IP to bring it on consoles and get in touch with it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I think that is going to depend how succesfull they are in monetizing the new Battlenet and at keeping piracy away from their new titles through smart use of battlenet...........

The whole PC piracy argument is the biggest BS fallacy and pretty clear scapegoating. As somebody who spent the time to make my Wii and 360 region free, I know that modding a console to play backups is trivial.

If you think piracy on a PC is easier, consider that the PC is always facing some new form of insane DRM. But with the console model the DRM is mostly pre-baked and rarely updated. Many new DRMed games can only be played on 360 until somebody cracks them for PC. If you want to play a pirated version online, once again the better option is the console.

If you still don't believe me check out the top 100 of any torrent site, look at the seeder/leechers. Piracy is huge on console. Any unethical 14 year old could do it in a few hours. The era of softmods (non-modchipping) are here in a big way, and publishers are insane if they think going console will shield them.

If you ask me it's a case of "blame the wii". Instead of examining whats wrong on the market lets pick on the smallest community.
