Gears of War 1 received lots of negative feedback?

And Im sure u mean MW2 instead of COD4.

Yup, it did. Not as much as it's sequel but close.

Both receive a lot of backlash, more so wit Modern Warfare 2. I believe backlash towards Modern Warfare 2 is a bit legit, not a terrible game however.

What did they say? I only remember almost universal praise for both games, especially Modern Warfare 1.

Wii Music, the game is fine, but Nintendo mis-marketed it towards the wrong crowd.

Pretty much every big game, it just becomes cool to hate them, and it really pisses me off when people just call these games crap, and just exaggerate massively

I totally agree with u. It pisses me off too. But everytime this topic comes up I think of you, because I remember how much you praise and love games like Modern Warfare 1, GTA 4 and Assassin's Creed 1, which are main targets of haters.

- Final Fantasy VIII
- Final Fantasy X
- Super Mario Sunshine
- Halo series
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

There are a lot more. But I can't think of anything atm.

You haven't heard about the laundry list of criticisms towards Modern Warfare 2?! You definitely haven't been around for a while, it may have been praised by critics, but it's severly hated by the gaming community.

They are amazing games, and I think they were truly revolutionary, whatevery the flaws. I don't get why people were so critical of AC I anyway

I don't mind people not liking games (aside from Uncharted 2), but when they call them crap, it is just taking it too far when there are clearly many redeeming features of these games even if they aren't quite drawn in

lol, no u misunderstood. By universal praise for "both games" I meant Gears of War 1 and CoD: MW 1.

The backlash of MW2 is infamous and biggest in gaming history.

It's fine if the individual dislikes those games, if they offer valid explanations to why. Sadly, this is not the case with most gamers these days.

As for the original Assassin's Creed, I didn't hate it but I didn't particurly like it. It was an average game, due to repetitive side missions that make up most of the game and the shallow combat model. It had potential to be so much better, the sequel is an improvement in every way.

See, that is a good explanation of why AC I was criticised, but that was not just backlash, it was just lash... in the first place. On a personal level, I still loved the game, because I thought the inital concept was just so amazing
