It certainly didn't meet expectations.
It needs a big pricecut, and plenty of new advertising for the big games releasing.
As for PSP2... We will see.

This. Sony's devastated by the sales of their system, especially when they are releasing new iterations of the device, and people aren't biting at it.

I did expect a new PSP this year, but with the announcement of GoW Ghost of Sparta, if it does come out this year, it will almost certainly only be in Japan. I know GoW II came out after NA release of the PS3, so maybe they will do the same thing here... But they need something
I dont want a psp2, they could pull it off if they cut the price of the damn thing.

we will see PSP2 this year
Lastgengamer said:Sony: PSP "a disappointment" last yearSony CFO Bill Glaser has called PSP sales "a little bit of a disappointment" for the huge electronics company. He was speaking in a Sony earnings call this afternoon. His comments come after full-year FY2010 earnings (for the year ended 31st March) showed flagging PS2 and PSP sales. "PS2 is entering its 11th year this year, and it's amazing it is still contributing," said Glaser. "PSP was a little bit of a disappointment to us last year." The PSPgo has been a commercial flop for Sony, although some rumours suggest it was an experiment ahead of a PSP2. Digital Foundry explored the possibilities recently. PS3 performed better for Sony, although its results Glaser said were "offset" by the other platforms. Talking of other platforms, Glaser revealed that Sony was already pumping money to researching new key gaming hardware. "We're always looking into future platforms as well. Very premature to talk about future platforms, but R&D is continuing," he said. Don't get too excited: Sony has talked long of a 10-year PS3 plan. It will take more than a giant crab to change that. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/sony-psp-a-disappointment-last-year |
Well, sure it was a disappointment. Sony, you've been very, very lazy when it came to doing worthwhile things on the PSP. Shame on you for being dumb?

(You can't beat iPhone/iPod) Second find games that could be sucessful in many markets and be recognized as handheld exclusives. Monster hunter is great for Japan but not for the rest of the world. Third give your console a good online system. Fourth PSPGo was a bad idea, just let it die. |
PSPGO wan't a bad idea,It was only to decide whether digital distribtion should be the only way to buy games in PSP2
crappy movies and music has nothing to do with PSP.It is because of their director. It is another thing to concentrate on the movie and music feature more than gaming in PSP and Sony is know what doing that and maketing their product as entertainment device
PSP has many games that appeal to all markets, and why the hell are you only mentioning Monster Hunter?Piracy is what killed PSP.GTA,GT,MGS,RE,FF,etc are all big and good games.
Give your console a good online sytem, our wireless internet networks today don't do a good job and you are talking that they should have done a good job in 2004.And they couldn't do a redical change in later versions asIt would distinguish them alot. And not too good Online sytem for free on PSPGO was because they didn't put much effort into it.It was just to see whether people adopt online only console
ok while i think its a good idea to drop the price on the psp, but where the hel do you think SONY made all the difrence in loss for the ps3, if it wasent for the psp and the ps2 being cash cows and making big profit on each console they sell, Sony would be in some big shit without the psp and ps2, so obvisuoy Sony is going to milk the shi out of the PSP, untill they announce the psp2 thats when Sony will lower the price for the psp, and they will still sell the psp when they release the psp2, just like they did with ps1, ps2 THINK ABOUT IT, ITS LOGIC !!!!!, and i bet my life thats was going to happen, thats sony's plan and i can tell you its a smart one

Sony did enough but gamers just prefer to pirate their PSP then buying games for it.

Well, I was referring more to aggressive pricing than to Sony's own support of software for their handheld. They shouldn't have been trying to be Nintendo.
