Dude, the wii wont make it to 20 million by the years end. Its imposssible.
17million is the target number.
18 million is possible(very likely if ninty increases stock)
Right now its 15, they need to produce 2 million wii's from now to decmber 31st(and they say they can only manage 1.8M)

You are ignoring stockpiles and unsold Wii's in Japan that will move by the end of the year. It will be closer to 20 million then you think. I say 20 million for sure by January. Then 30 million around May.
The only reason that John's prediction won't come true is if Nintendo can't make that many. Otherwise I believe you John.
Boycotting the following:
1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.
2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.
3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.
4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games. If that were the case they'd own a PS3.
5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.
6. Boycotts: Their so lame.
60 million seems possible but I'm going with a max of 50 million.

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.
60 million by the end of 2008 is possible but unlikely. The most units ever shipped in one year hasn't even been higher than that of 30 million units. DS, a handheld, holds the record with about 28 million shipped in one year. To think a console could have 40 million shipped in one year, despite it being the Wii, is simply close to impossible really. Not to mention the average amount of Wiis per month to be made would be over 3 million. It's just too unlikley. Very little possibility, although i still leave it in there cuase I've been surprised before.
Nintendo managed to crank out 20 million in year one. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to beef up production with China coming.

I think he was saying 45 million total by end of 2008. I could be wrong. I definately was referring to totals. |
when will do you think nintendo will ramp up production? I guess after the holiday period like late Jan if not late Dec to quickly draw in the people that may have missed out on a wii this holiday period. Im saying by the end of 2008 nintendo will have 45-50 million shipped give or take 1-2mill... so thats about 25-30 million shipped in 2008

It just dont' work that way. If Nintendo can't even churn out 30 million DS's in one fiscal year, what makes you think they can churn out 40 million Wii's in one year. DS's are easier to produce than Wii by a lot. It's just not a large possibility that'd they'd be able to increase production 2 fold in a year like that, or ever. They may be able to hit 30 million for next year but that'd be pushing it. Not to mention demand has to stay high for this to even matter as well. I'm not saying it won't but there are a lot of factors that is just not being considered right now.
