There is always more room for improvement, anyone who says otherwise doesn't have their head on straight.

For xbox 360 it is only slight improvment, the best of 360 we have already seen!!! Sure IT IS possible to push more out of the consoles but they wont bother to, so we could say that 360 will be maxed with Gears of War 3!!!

I don't think so....There haven't been really any developers that made an engine specifically for the 360.

? Alan Wake.

.............i really cant see the alan wake graphics like the best on the system........well im really think that with gears of war 3 the system probably come very very closer to his limits, but hey actually the 360 have show beautifull games, Fable II, Gears 2, Mass Effect 2, etc....

it has been maxed out long time ago even the most recent xbox 360 exclusives arent running at 720p (alan wake, SC:C) i guess that gives you a hint.

what about Mass Effect 2???

ME2 is not an exclusive :P

And that's relevant because....? ME2 and SC:C are in the same boat, yet you use SC:C because it suits you... And you want to dismiss ME2.. Really sound argument...

The imagine how much better ME2 would have looked it if was an exclusive and didn't have the PC holding it back.

We'll know more once developers of 360 games actually start programming to take advantage of parallization.  Something PS3 programmers were forced to do but 360 programmers didn't because the took the easy road.  That and custom 360 engines would help rather than using mostly UE3.

Edit: one more proof that 360 is "maxed" is that games like alan wake and hale reach instead of increasing the resulution they decrease the resulution to 540p which is only sub-hd!

Halo Reach is 540p?  Care to provide a link for that info?

While PS3 games you see still increasing the resulution, even if they are best looking games this generation - God of War 3 = 1080p and Gran Turismo 5 = 1080p

Wrong.  God of War 3 was only 720p.

LOL you are right, i should have not said SC:C :P i guess i was in a rush, so its now just down to Alan wake

I am a proud GRAPHICS WHORE.

I think Alan Wake looks really good, but then again it does run at a lower resolution witch proofs games are really memory limited now... They could have opted to use some virtual memory to get around this problem by using the hard drive, but the arcade version means developers can't rely on every 360 having a hard drive.... PS3 is also having this problem though, it's why God of War 3 got scaled back to 720p for example.

It's like when Sony and Microsoft designed their consoles they forgot that these things have to run HD resolutions(1280x720 in most cases) wich is much heavier than consoles in the past did(720x480 max). That's almost 3 times as heavy, so the systems were at a dissatvantage from the start.

Maybe they should have made an extra expansion slot on the systems like with the N64 where you could double the memory with an expansion pack. This might sound like kind of a stupid solution but it's actually brilliant, because by the time the systems get really memory limited the prices of memory are much lower than they were at launch, so adding memory later on is much cheaper. (you could give it as an extra with new games that use it, much like Wii motion plus for example).

It's like adding a extra memory module in your PC without having to open the system, and since memory is shared between system and gpu, both benefit from it.

I say it will reach it's peak in a couple years of course not counting Crysis 2.

So I guess that fuels the argument that 360 games haven't had custom engines fully taking advantage of the tri-core setup then if only one exclusive so far has been using a semi-custom engine.  (I say Alan Wake was using a semi custom engine because it started out multiplat and then shifted a bit too late for them to focus and optimize solely for just the 360 version).

IMO the 360 been maxed out 2 years ago. The 360 is a year older than PS3 and I still haven't seen anything on the 360 that look like KZ2 or Uncharted 2. I think the next xbox will show games like them but I don't think 360 will ever have anything close to them.
