Forums - Gaming - Lost Planet 2 ... Lets talk for a second

OK i really want this game and i wanna talk something over for a second

One of the BIG complaints i've been hearing is "the levels are hard with no checkpoints"

does this sound like another game to anyone?

how about Demon's souls? THIS game got FANTASTIC reviews....

why the devide?

This game seams like it should be a winner! HUGE enemies sweet guns and 4 player co-op? why are the reviews so bad?

Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive, though.

I think u should get the game if u like the gameplay and the controls feel good for you
I was looking forward to go get it but since I cant stand to fire with R2
is a no buy for me

Nintendo made me a gamer so I'd be stupid to ever try to forget that                                             like so many people nowadays

Demon's Souls has a great design, good weapon system, an interesting online option, great boss battles, it was rewarding and it was as fun as frustrating. It's the spiritual succesor of great 8-bit motherf**ers like Ghosts N' Goblins. Lost Planet 2 has a bad design, a not so good weapon system, boss battles that look good but are limited to "shoot the thing in the bright spot", a poor online system, boring missions and it's just another example of how developers spent time and effort trying to make their games look good instead of I don't know ... fun.

I don't mind a hard game, but the first Lost Planet game had annoying gameplay mechanics which made the lack of checkpoints that much more irritating. And judging from the reviews on this game, it looks like Capcom hasn't fixed that. I mean, getting hit with a rocket and then waiting for my guy to get up only to get hit by another rocket, and then dying. So annoying.

Totally different. In Lost Planet, if you fail, you have to start over an entire chapter, no matter what mission you're on. Sometimes that's as many as five missions completely lost. In Demon's Souls, you only go back to the start of the exact level you were already on, and even then, you're not actually starting anything over. You retain all your items you discovered and any events triggered remain triggered, however you simply must replay the level in Soul form, at the risk either doubling or losing the souls you had on you when you died.

In Demon's Souls, the game progresses even in death. In Lost Planet, you're forced to replay incredibly long sections of the game.

Read my thread to find out more about why the game didn't end up being nearly as good as the demo implied.
