The source you posted to is in no way reliable. Check the source that they link to in that source in the OP - it makes no mention of ME2. Nor does EA's financial briefing. Either get a legitimate source, or ask a mod to close your thread

It's here:

Mass Effect 2 – sold through over 1.6 million packaged and digital units in the quarter for Europe and North America combined and launched with a Metacritic rating of 96 on the Xbox 360.

given that they say "and digital units" it's likely to be the 360 + PC..

This just proves that singleplayer RPGs, no matter how good they are, are a small niche. Final Fantasy XIII will probably be the only RPG to top 4 million on a single platform this gen, and even then only because it has 20 years of brand recognition to lean on and 75% of its sales on one platform.

It sucks.  =(

The legend of Zelda: twilight Princess sold 4.7 million on the wii (it also lost about a million sales to the GC).

As a RPG' lover i would like more sales for the genre. Sad for ME2.

I wouldn't consider any of the 3D Zeldas to be RPGs.

It has a big long story, upgradable equipment and health, NPC's and lots of sidequests.

Zelde might be more a action RPG, but still a RPG.

But it has no experience system or base stats for your character.     Nothing you listed defines it as an RPG, it gives it similarities, but all accept the side quests are in GoW which I highly doubt you would deem as an ARPG.

Looks like a ton of gamers are missing out on a fantastic experience.

Anybody else wonder if the ME1 carryover turned off a lot of people that either never finished the first or didn't play it at all?

ME2 has exp, stats and skills at the level similar to Bioshock ( a bit more)

Bioshock doesn't have an experience system, leveling up system, or base stats that you can increase through that system.  ME2 does.

I think that the first Mass Effect left a bad mark on a lot of people (which doesn't mean it's not a great game). I bought a 360 for the game and was very disappointed, I only ever got up to the part were I join the council and then I left it unfinished because it had some annoyances. Mass Effect 2 is apparently better, but I'm guessing some people don't want take the chance yet or are worried that unless they finish the first they won't understand the second.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

The numbers seem pretty accurate Mass Effect 2 in not in any weekly top 50 list. Maybe Microsoft should include Mass Effect 2 in their bundles and drop either Forza or ODST otherwise I cannot see any reason for EA to keep Mass Effect exclusive for 1.6 million sales.
