I got a black Wii back in November if that counts. I won it in a competition. Having 2 Wii's does have it's benefits.

why?

I'd assume it's that you can safely use online and VC/WiiWare on one updated Wii, and 'haxxor' the other one.

Yep, what Vectorferret said is correct. The White is full of homebrew and the black one is up to date with the official firmware.
