I see a Nintendo cut as a possibility. An MS cut is pretty much guaranteed with the slim/redesign coming. Sony already said they won't cut price for another year to focus on profitability.

The prices I could see coming about are as follows:

Wii - $149
360 Arcade Slim - $149 ($199 with Natal)
360 Elite Slim - $199 ($249 with Natal)
PS3 Base Model - $299 ($349 with full Move [controller + eye + subcontroller + game] - essentially a $50 cut)
PS3 Larger HDD Model - $349 ($399 with full Move - essentially a $50 cut)

if 360 arcade slim $149 has huge impact then PS3 120gb will be $249.Only if arcade price cut has an impact.

PS3 120gb Move bundle at $299 is certain

With removal of DS3 and inserting Move, navigation, eye, game will be possible to be included in $299 bundle. They could even break even with this bundle. If not then $20 LOSS AT MAX.

Wii $149 only if PS3 and 360 are crushing it.

and no chance of elite being at $199,$249 will be the price. They could add a 250gb HDD to $249 alite

Elite NATAL at $299

You are just wishing for the PS3 to price cut and stay the same price as the 360. You honestly Sony can afford to drop the price on the PS3 but MS can't afford to drop the Elite past the same $249 price point? PS3 has BluRay and WiFi built in. Therefore it will never have the ability to be built cheaper than the 360. The Elite will be cheaper than the entry level PS3 this holiday you can count on it.

At the start of 2009 Sony said they would not drop the price to focus on profitability - we saw what happened there. Whether they'll cut again this year it's hard to say but anything Sony say is irellevent.

I'd imagine the 360 and PS3 will have small price cuts, but 'lead' with move / Natal bundles at the current price schemes. That way they get more of the motion things out there and most likely save a bit of money if they position it right.

Nintendo will follow suit if they're releasing a console in 2011, but that's purely speculative at this point.

Both MS/Sony is wishing that the competion dont cut the price because they know it shift momentum towards which ever console did a price cut which means lossing potential sales for then so they will have to counter it(price cut/bundle). But its funny how there's already "ps3 wont price cut guaranteed" when last year this same ppl claimed the same thing and look what happened 299 wooping 199......shows whos scared to get their ass woop again(flashback to 2009).

I think Nintendo will get the aproach "wait and see"

Because Slim 360 + Natal and PS3 + Move, are 2 systems that won't sell for less than 250€ for sure. And Nintendo already "fought" in those conditions, with only 50€ difference.

Or maybe it becomes affordable to them to drop the price to 170, because the 3DS launch will move serious profit???

What do you mean by affordable? Nintendo could probably get away with pricing wii at $100 and still  break even on each unit sold. Of course that would be against their policy of putting apple like profit margins on everything they sell.

no i'm not wishing.just saying what is possible.

Sony just started making profit with PS3 and with 32nm CELL,bluray becoming cheaper and other cost reductions.PS3 will profit even with $249 IN FALL Time. This is for the $299 129gb PS3 they are already making profit on.

PS3's price cut to $249 will only come if 360 has an impact with the SLIM 360 at $149.

The reason why i said 360 elite won't make under $249 is because it won't make any impact and MS will keep it $100 above arcade.Whats the reason of an arcade at $149 when you can get AN ELITE AT $199 which i think will not happen and $199 will also be NATAL Arcade Cundle price. They could however introduce a 250gb HDD in Elite $249.

Elite manufacture cost is lower than PS3 but MS will not price it lower. And Elite will be $249 and if Arcade doesn't have much impact then PS3 will remain at $299 but if it does then PS3 120gb and Elite will be level and you can count on it.

Do you really think Sony would admit to having a price cut before the price cut is about to happen? That would kill of sales until the price drop officially happens.

lol................thats what i and a couple of others have trying to tell this guy in 2-3 of the other threads about this discussion.

But everytime he says because sony said it they will not cut it.and he just doesn't seem to understand the thing

Sony have 2 stances when it comes to rumors. Deny or say they don't comment to rumors.

They denied LittleBigPlanet 2, which recently became true. They denied the PS3 Slim. They denied the PS3 Price Cut last year. They denied the PSP Go.

Sony "don't comment" on rumors. Those they do comment on are generally to say it's not true. lol.

Since when is a Sony Rep saying it himself a "rumor"?

Also, while I am not saying they will absolutely 100% follow this, they most likely will for the sake of profit.  Everyone thought they would cut price in 2008 to combat MS's price cut, but they didn't because they simply couldn't.  We are far enough along in this generation that they need to start focusing on profitability.  I think you both also failed to notice that the bundled cost of the PS3 + Move I actually included a $50 price reduction in it.  This is what I believe the prices will be as both MS and Sony will want as many of their motion controllers out there as possible.

that makes, sence, ninty doesn¡t wanna lose control and they would wanna counter the other price drops

Yes, Solid is one of those extreme wishful thinkers that simply thinks something without any possible evidence at all.  Also, I love how he suggests that they REMOVE the DS3 and only include Move.  That would be the worst possible thing they could do because Move does not work with past games.  At least not until some of them receive updates.

He has no idea how much cheaper the 360 should be already yet MS has held off and absorbed tons of profits this past year from it.  The Elite Slim 360 will save them close to $70-100 off of current Elite hardware production costs (coming from die shrinks, chip merger, cooling/innards reworking, smaller mobo, less casing materials, etc.).

wow. microsoft announced an 360 slim and a price cut???. were was i when this happened!!!!. when they announced it?

Hmm...

I don't think we will see PS3 or Wii cuts. I think we will see new colours and bundles instead.

The 360, WILL be cut. By $50 i think. I don't think there will be a "Slim". But i do think they will bundle Natal with every 360 sold after it releases.
