Yea, people with a lot of pressure whine. Sadly, FF uses whining style from Japanese culture. When you translate that to Western countries that just looks dumb and idiotic. In fact, I'm sure their whining is exaggerated just as much as Sofia Vergara exaggerates her accent in Modern Family. That kind of comic relief doesn't translate well at all. Hence the need to create a western driven story in FF!

Well I'd rather see the process with snow-light than snow-serah, the latter would look wrong & would it even work, there are size issues over a variety of things. {slaps himself}. Sorry I went into too much detail.

LOL (I don't normally lol) but cutting songs to pieces, is not the best way to try to sway someones opinion. I loved the prelude as well, as miracles, and others. But it's kinda like taking the chorus of a song and ignoring the rest just saying. :P, but that is the best part of that song. Okay i'm confusing D:

Oh, and regarding "whininess" (is that even a word?), there are ways to make a good "whiny" character, that way is:
1. Make sure his/her voice isn't annoying to tears.
2. Make sure he has an actual good reason to be whiny.
Good example - Vivi, in many pepole's opinion he's actually the best character in the series.
Bad Example - Hope, I wanted to stab him in the face most of the game, he's just such an idiot, how can you not want that character to die?

I don't think that really proves anythings other than it didn't match the very best game soundtracks ever... which kinda makes peoples expectations extremely high. As Uematsu's already done 2 soundtracks this gen as well... unless Uematsu's slipped D: And obviously FFXIII OST was the least Uematsu-eish, because it wasn't done by Uematsu.

not really FF6, 8, 9 ,10 are like peaks in music for their respective times.
We can't expect every game to have legendary music like that.
The music this gen hasn't been bad at all, not when we have soundtracks like FF13, MGS4 (even if its the worst soundtrack in the series), Oblivion, Valkyria Chronicles, LO, Super Mario Galaxy and many I have forgotten to name, not because they weren't good enough to be remembered.
So yeah music this gen has been very good, just not as good as it has been in the past. Oh well.

There have been a lot of whinny characters on previous FF's, and even some main protagonists have gone through whinny phases in the game span.
FFIV - Cecil and his emo/whinny side as a Dark Knight
FFVI - Ceres after the World Ends
FFVII - Cloud and his entire moody attitude
FFIX - As you said, Vivi, but IMO he's far from being the best character in the series
