your right because all Sony can is rely on the PS2 because nothing else they makes money.

I meant with regards to gaming (should have been more clear), as its their only successful platform at the moment

To Avinash_Tyagi

Lifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles

You cant be serious!!!!!!!!!

100% serious

You tell him, Avinash_Tyagi.

Gotta be able to stand your courageous ground.

Me and you are certainly on the same wavelength.

And yes it will happen. With a minimum of 240,000,000 lifetime to be sold worldwide, it's patently guaranteed.

Must you always come and say something negative about Sony?  What a troll.

Also, you can't be serious with your sig.  Do you mean Just PS2, PS3, and PSP or are you including the PS1.  As you can see.  The PS2 is running into it's eighth year, and still hasn't died down.  You can't be serious that it'll move more than (100million (PS1) + 130 million (PS2) + 35 million (PSP) and 8 million (PS3), and the PSP and PS3, and PS2 are only right now numbers.  That is 270 million+ sold for the Wii?  You must be sipping the juice.

I find it remarkable that all these guys on this forum use insulting language.

Just cause someone has some "extreme" predictions doesnt mean he is a moron.

This is a fair point.  Sony can't rely on the PS2 because even with it -- perhaps the most successful console of all time -- the games division at Sony is still losing a ton of money due to the PS3. They have other divisions keeping them afloat. Like the divisions they've been selling: that insurance division as well as their Cell production facility.

Oh i'm not trolling, there is nothing else in terms of gaming that Sony has that is a success, also i'm totally serious the Wii has much deeper appeal than any of the playstation systems and is selling almost twice as fast as the PS2, plus the bump last week for Wii sales in to the 40K range seems to bode well for Wii Fit this week, plus Wii fit will likely have long term legs

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Ok, so the PSP isn't selling?  That isn't helping either.

PSP software and hardware are dsimal compared to the DS, and this from the system that was expected bySony to overtake the DS and steal Nintendo's handheld market, no need to try and rewrite history, fact is it flopped

Also when did this thread turn into a discussion of my predictions, wasn't it supposed to be about the PS2?

Ok people, Avinash definately knows or understands something that you don't. And i'm not going to explain it to you.
Wii definately has potential. Do you know what PSX, DS and Wii have in common? They all had a slow start, or should i say, slow first year, before they really started to sell.

Now, Avinash Tyagi and John Lucas predict pretty close numbers, but Wiis potential is so huge, that their predictions may be the low end. And who says Wii is going to stop selling after five years? And how will competition beat Wii, with HD, more power and cheap Wii remote ripoff with no games?

About 3rd party support, who do you think is interested in developing for the Wii, when your options are high developement costs, and a console with niche install base (and niche target group), console with even more higher developent costs, even more niche install base (but a little broader target group) and a console with lowest developent costs, highest install base, and target group multiple times the others combined.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

With todays demand for electronics and machinery that handels multiple tasks, the Wii will loose staying power once everyone realizes it makes neither DVD players or proper audio systems obsolete.
Think I'm full of it? Well, casuals DO like music and films.
For me, the Wii offers nothing outside of Zelda and possibly Mario Kart and Galaxy.
