Forums - Gaming - What is your opinion of Gamestop employees? Who are these people?

I see a mix of idiots and smart employees. It's really an interesting variety. Mostly dumb though.

Same as it is anywhere else I go.

When I bought Yakuza 3 several weeks I ago, the guy asked my aunt(who drove me to GameStop) if it was alright for me to play it just because it was an M rated game. The stupid part is that I am 17 and M rated games mean 17 and older so technically, I shouldn't need permission to buy it but apparently, you need to be 18 to buy M rated games without parent/guardian consent. My opinion...mixed because the employees are a tad stupid but they otherwise do seem like nice people. I am actually thinking of getting a job at GameStop for the summer. The thing is....is that I have read horror stories from various forums about how GameStop lays off employees almost as fast as they hire them.

why do gamestop try to push people into buying something that the customer obviously doesn't want?

I went in to pre order God of War 3 and they asked for PS3 or 360, my piercing glare hopefully ruined his day.

The only useful employee's are the oily, hardcore 360 fan's that sit up all night playing Shadowrun and constantly scoping out Perfect Dark Zero for an online match because they love RARE with a passion. The only problem is that they have no social skill's and it's always one worded answer's and you know they know about what your asking for, you can tell by their Neogaf wrist band's that they know what Demons Soul's is or if Mass Effect is a good game, they just don't want to put up with any sort of social activity outside of standing behind a bench.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

i work at gamestop, at the end of the day we are just college kids getting paid minimum wage. I put my effort in every week, but its fair to realize that your get shitted on as a consumer in any retail experience, gamestop is just an easy one to pick on i guess.

LOL the same thing happened to me! Except it wasn't at a Gamestop store nor did I leave the store.

When that person asked me that question, I just laughed and replied "It's only on PS3". Reason was because the person who asked was a pretty girl. If it was some dumbass looking dude, then I would've left the store.

Unfortunately Australia doesn't have Gamestop, sounds like we are really missing out.
