Forums - Gaming - NMH on HD consoles underperforms compared to the Wii version

If anything they performed far better than the wii version, taking everything into account:
- both 360 and ps3 have user bases far smaller than the wii but managed to attain sales that almost equal it.
-the game is a two year old port with virtually no advertising or web coverage behind it.
-although its in HD, the game looks like a lazy port which doesn't take advantage of the hardware its using.

i think you've twisted these sales into something which supports your loyalty to nintendo, as opposed to using honest analysis.

lol fail argument is FAIL!

Make an original game not a late port of NMH and then let's release it side by side to see which does better eh? heck the xbox version of this crappy port did around only 2000 less than the original? Sorry but that is just bad argumentation on your part

One data point is too small to draw that conclusion, especially since the data point is Japan (where the game performed so poorly that the sequel is not released there) and where the difference is within the margin of error. Plus, when you add the HD sales together...

When you add the HD sales together you are comparing the sales of 2 platforms against the sales of one platform. That's wrong.

Also, the sales data shall get even more obvious next week.

If this game releases in America it will most likely have the same sales pattern we see in Japan but in higher numbers.

Well there are over 10 million wii's and only 6million ps3s+xbox's combined in japan. So combining the sales is fair, which shows that NMH does infact sell better on the hd consoles over the wii!!!

Fact is: back in NMH Wii release those were not 10 million.

Again, adding the sales of 2 platforms is wrong. NMH did worse on PS3 and 360, that's the truth.

So a 2 year old port, released outside the holiday season, that is splitting sales between two platforms is doing marginally worse than the original release according to VGChartz data.

Congrats?

NMH Wii was also released outside the Holiday season. "Splitting sales"?  I don't know where do you live, but in my world a PS3 is a different machine than 360. It's usual and correct not to add the numbers of two different systems, because neither Microsoft or Sony are the same company.

And yes, congrats to the Wii :)

December 6th is outside the holiday season, especially when your whole argument is around weeks 2 and 3?  And just look at nearly any Japanese PS3/360 release and you'll see an overwhelming majority buying the PS3 version.  You're kidding yourself if being censored isn't what caused the sales between the PS3 and 360 to be so similar.

"Let's say, theoretically, the PS3 got the uncensored version identical to the 360 version. The total sales stay exactly the same, but the 360 version sells 5,000 less and the PS3 5,000 more. Would this then be a success in your eyes?"

No everything would remain the same having Wii in the front with the most sold flop, PS3 in second place with the middle flop, and 360 in last place with the worst flop.

So you're saying the PS3 version would be more of a flop than the Wii version even if it sold more?  And remember, when you were arguing about Reflex's success, you operated under the belief that a port is essentially free.  So I guess the PS3/360 versions were huge successes since they are just free money.

I, too, fail to see how this is underperforming. The HD release was too late, wasn't developed at the same time and sold almost as much as the Wii version. Also, the HD version had much more competition.

Besides, the total is significantly more than the Wii version.

In any case, even if you think the HD version is performing as well as some might think it should, it's definitely not underperforming considering all the factors. But yeah, terrible sales on all platforms.

I forgot this game, but it's got a HD version or is this a theoretical thread?

There were 4 million Wii consoles in Japan when No More Heroes was released.

There are 6.5 million HD consoles nowadays in NMH: Paradise release. Combining both platforms sales, its natural the number is higher than the Wii one. But that is known to be wrong.

2 against 1 is this:

The lonely one gets on the ground because the 2 other ones aren't man enough to fight by themselves.

Again with this?

The HD systems have a higher userbase when no more heros was released. The wii only had 4 million so you can't say it was the userbase diffrence. Than we have the port that is superior than the wii version. One is uncesored and both have extras. So it was worth the wait. The port excuse it stupid. Why would that be a excuse on why the game didn't sell? Do random people on the streets hate ports? Last time I check no. So if anything HD versions did worse than wii. Also even if you combine them its still not a big enough diffrence for people to say this game should stay on the HD systems. Though if I remeber the wii version is uncesored and subtitled while the HD versions are not

My thoughts

Do Not Click here or else I will call on the eye of shining justice on you.

Lets all get into our time machines, go back to NMH Wii release (with our current day PS360 versions) and release them all simultaneously.

That is the ONLY way you will EVER have solid "proof" of which console the game would sell better on.

Edit: Remove the "extra" content as well.

1: It is an age old port with no hype or expectations.

2: NMH Wii was released smack dab in the middle of the holiday season.

3: Both the PS3 and the 360 has a pitiful installed base compared to the Wii.

4: Despite all these factors and in conclusion, it performed better on the HD consoles all in all and it actually goes directly against your point.

Edit; your thread title goes a long way in instigating the whole "HD vs Wii" argument. Change the thread title or quit complaining that people clump the two HD consoles together for the purpose of showing that you're even more wrong.
