what else i find funny is how horribly of a port job ff13 was and did MS fanboys go up in arms? nope.

Final Fantasy XIII on the 360 was a very suitable port. The main reason why the PS3 version looks better is more storage capacity. 6.8 GB per 360 DVD and on a Blu-Ray disc you have more than 7 times this capacity (the exact ratio is difficult to determine as for some games more data duplication will be required spanning across multiple discs than others).

With regard to game design, that game was originally intended for the PS2 (of course meanwhile it has improved), so with regard to complexity is no problem for the XBox 360 to handle.

And mind you, in the past when there were differences between ports it were first and foremost loud mouth XBox 360 fanboys who started endless threads about this, combined with spreading misinformation the 360 is a more powerful console....

lol has no-one informed you what happened when you got to grand pulse on the x360 version the frame rate fell all the way down below 28fps, the ps3 maintained a steady framerate, so the x360 port even though it was a good one it just could not handle the amount of objects and activities going on as well as the ps3 version could.

i think its better this way.

There are important differences between games consoles and PCs. Wanting a powerful console does not mean people should buy a PC, neither does wanting a powerful handheld console mean people should get a PC, neither does wanting a more powerful smartphone mean people should get a PC, neither does wanting a more powerful car mean people should get a PC, etc.

So it's about the games, right? And not the power of the hardware?

It's a combination of many different aspects.

Sure the PS3 sees a lot more high budget exclusive game releases than the PC does nowadays.

There are some crucial system power related advantages to making games on the PS3. First of all you know that every PS3 has basically the same system configuration. This means you can fully utilize the hardware and perform as much specific optimisations as you require. On the PC this is not the case, so many different configurations to take into account and the best selling PC games are actually designed to run well enough on pretty basic configurations.

Sure a PC can be upgraded with way extra memory or a more moden GPU, but it does not beat the PS3 in every regard. For example the Cell processor in terms of true performance can beat the best quad core PC CPUs out there. Also PC games aren't using Blu-Ray discs, with regard to storage capacity there are advantages on the PS3 as well.

The end user experience is also very different and usually a PC is less suitable for living room usage for many people. Different tools for different purposes.

For example with a PS3 you can easily connect 4 dual shock 3 controllers and start a game like LittleBigPlanet to play with friends. From many different perspectives a games console is usually a far more elegant solution than using a Windows PC regarding multi-media playback and gaming.

28 FPS isn't horrible (even SubHD Halo 3, which lacks anti-aliasing and is a high budget 360 exclusive drops below that). Movies do 24 frames per second and many cartoons do way less frames per second. 28 FPS can still look very fluid for animation.

I don't like the idea of porting games from ps3 to 360. Look at what they did with Final Fantasy XIII.

It will certainly help with Mike Acton's prediction: "Good data and good design works well on the SPUs (and will work well anywhere)‏. Sometimes you can get away with bad design and bad data on other platforms -...for now. Bad design will not survive this generation."

This is good news for all PC/360/PS3 gamers, nomatter if they know this or not. It will also help development with future game consoles.

lol nothing like fanboys hating on fanboys. PS3 gets a good news and Microsoft security squad came over to hate. I'll save you all some trouble. If you are a Xbox 360 fanboy, do not read this news because it will incite you some anger and need to complain. Rest assure you will have some good games to play with when all is said and done.

Oh yeah I'm a PS3 fanboy by choice. I just don't see the value on a Xbox 360. No I do not agree on everything Sony says, and yes, I believe its Xbox 360 fault that SOME third party games are limited in quality. Don't be mad though, just like the Wii and PS2, some games are amazing even with limited quality hardware.

I can't comprehend what you're trying to imply here. If you don't value the Xbox 360 then you don't value the PS3. Its a simple concept really when they are so similar if you don't value the one you don't own then you devalue the one you do.

Lol, you're pretending to not know exactly what he meant, squillie? :p

It's well known the XBox 360's capabilities is severely holding back multi-platform developers.

The current situation with the 360 I see as a love and hate thing.

If the XBox 360 stays on the market for many more years, the positive aspect is that there's a bigger 360/PS3/PC installbase for multi-platform game companies to take advantage of. Allowing for bigger multi-platform game budgets.

If the XBox 360 is discontinued by next year, that would also be positive as PC/PS3 games development can gain a lot from this from a technical perspective.

As time goes on and the PS3 installbase increases, scenario 2 gets ever more interesting and relevant.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be discontinued next year. After all, it's not like they have Gears of War 3 lined up for next year, nevermind Mass Effect 3, which could even release in 2012, and Natal games.
