It's probably a network issue. I get the same thing at university, but have no problems at home (I have a 2nd gen iPod). Try it on a different network would be my suggestion.

Nah, I know what your problem is. The 3rd generation ipod doesn't support internet browsing at all. What you should get instead is a 3rd gen ipod touch. I hear they are much better.

In all seriousness, is it a problem with the app or youtube? trying opening the web browser and enter the youtube url

Its not the network because I've tried it on different one
I can use the browser
I've already tried going on the browser and to URL YouTube.com but instead of there being a picture of the video I get a big x

Did you jailbreak it? cause you could have killed you keys...

Then it needs a firmware update

There are no firmware updates avaible it's 3rd generation

Two more suggestions:

1. Have you tried giving the device an actual restart? Hold the sleep button for several seconds and swipe the screen when prompted to do a shutdown. When the screen goes dark, hold the sleep button down again to reboot.

2. Give the device a wipe and restore from iTunes. I've never had to do this so I'm fuzzy on the details, but it does sound like you might have some corrupt system files, so if a restart doesn't fix it, a reinstall should.
