Forums - Sales - Can Heavy Rain Outsell Mass Effect 2? and Other Sales talk

Right now Heavy Rain is sitting at 1.21 Million while Mass Effect 2 is at 1.72 Million; however, currently Heavy Rain is outselling Mass Effect 2 by 3000 in NA over 5000 in Others and 1000 in Japan a week.

So with continued legs it could surpass Mass Effect 2 world wide.

Gap .51 Million

Current trend Heavy Rain plus 9k a week.

If this Gap stays the same it will take 56 weeks for Heavy Rain to beat Mass Effect 2.

Thus, I don't believe the game will catch Mass Effect 2 but 1.5 million in total sales seems very likely.

Thoughts or other sales trend you want to discuss

I can't believe how successful Heavy rain has been

I am glad that it is successful to often awesome new ips don't get enough love and we don't see them anymore or they try to become to mainstream and lose their original appeal

Probably not gonna catch ME2.. That 9k a week will diminish.

But still, very surprising sales. I think HR has an outside shot at 2 mil.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

While I think its possible I don't think it will happen.  I imagine that ME2 will sell better during the holiday seasons, so that would  negate any positive sales that HR would have had over ME2 the previous months before the holiday.

Of course if either one of them had a bundle that would change things up.

mass effect 2 is the kind of game that will seel a bit in the holidays

Also, since there's no way to track PC ME2 sales which make a portion to in Others or the US (I think) So I don't think it will, especially if you include PC

I'm shocked at how well Heavy Rain sold though. As I own it's predecessor Farenheit (Indigo Prophecy (The US edited version)) And it didn't have sales like that.

HEAVY RAIN is more of a spiritual successor than anything else. They had their similarities but were quite different in enough areas to be dinstiguishable.

What really helped it was the fact that it was the first game to introduce a good few of it's mechanics. The innovation and passion for something fresh is ultimately what sold it.

I meant to say spirtual I just skipped that word :P, But, I've only played the demo of Heavy Rain and watched my brother played it when he rented it and I played it some. I look forward to playing it this summer as the atmosphere (which for some reason is my most important part of a videogame :P) seemed really good. I was going to play it and beat it, but obviously as demonstrated in my sig, A certain game came up :P, and I don't have that much time to play games because of school and that FF game took a really long time to beat.

But I am quite excited as it seemed much better than farenheit for the reasons you said above. Although I enjoyed farenheit a lot as I like crazy stories (and normal ones too) :)

But I'm with you, I like seeing games that are different sell well (even if they have critisisms) as I think they keep gaming fresh. And if they sell well, I think they might let other
developers explore their wild ideas

Both games deserve more sales.

Liked Heavy Rain
Loved Mass Effect 2 though

hmmm.....both will probably have a re-release with their dlc on disc. i actually see both selling very well at christmas, ME2 more so. mass2 also has a sequel coming and that will help it alot.
final sales
heavy rain---around 2 million
mass effect2---around 3 million

however heavy rain MAY get move support and i wouldn't be surprised if it was a bundled product.(with move) then it may reach 2.5 million
