Forums - Nintendo - Michael Pachter: Wii 2 delay is hurting Nintendo

No one mentioned PIRACY, especially Mr.Patcher!
I think that's the main problem for declining Wii SW sales.
And i think that in late 2011(Japan), or early 2012(rest) we will see Wii2.
Wii2 will be compatible with Wii games, so Wii fans don't be afraid.
Nevertheless Wii will sell until end of 2013 or further, perhaps for 100$ or less, just like PS2.

I think he's totally wrong. It would be a mistake to release the Wii HD. It's like telling 70 million people graphics don't matter that's why you stuck with us, but now you have to upgrade your graphical capability just to play new games. It would be bad for Nintendo's image and likely would not sell as much as the wii, especially considering price.

I get tired of Nintendo fans using this kind of argument on boards. The truth is 70 million people didn't stick with Nintendo. It's true you've got hardcore Nintendo fans on boards that are willing to heap drooling praise all over anything that would put Nintendo back on top of the console heap even if it keeps truely great games from coming to the system but many core fans have gone on to 360 and PS3.

Most of that 70 million that the poster asserts stuck with Nintendo is composed of people that really don't give a darn about traditional or core games on Wii and are only interested in the system for things like Wii Fit and Jillian Michaels Fitness Coach while much better games on the system like No More Heroes, Okami, Fragile Dreams, and Muramasa or even Nintendo's own core games on the system go on to languar in a great deal of obscurity in comparison to the likes of Wii Fit, etc, which most third parties are more interested in making clones of on Wii than true hard core rpgs and the like since those things are really the only third party games that ever really go on to sell more than a couple of million units on Wii.

Also, Miyamoto himself said in an interview regarding the prospects of a Wii HD in 2008 that he thought that both graphics and keeping up with technology were important endeavors.

I get tired of non-Nintendo fans using this kind of argument on boards.

Wii sells the most 3rd party software. Period.

It's always the ones with low postcount....

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Would you please post a list of that best selling third party software along with its metacritic ratings?

Also, I don't know why people are lumped in with Non Nintendo fans whenever they raise legitimate questions about the Wii. I had a NES with Rob, SNES, N64, GBA, and Gamecube. And, I very much support the developers that are trying to make good games for the Wii like Vanillaware, Marvelous, Tricrescendo, GrassHopper, and Nintendo's own core efforts.

He's been made a fool of consistently regarding this, so its making him look bad as an analyst, therefore his calls for it are getting louder, hoping that his words will reach the Japanese investors who can *make* Nintendo release something like that.

LoL.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I'd just like to interject for a moment.

the wii has been out for almost 4 years.

the typical console life cycle for a successful console is 5 years.

I like pachter's predictions however the wii obviously does not need HD although the next one will most likely have it.

nintendo will come out with something new and fun when it is ready to. and will probably blow your mind like the wii may have

The HD-people are pathetic. I have yet to play a game where HD improve it, and it seems like FF13 wasn't the game people wanted becuase of HD, since HD made it harder for them to make towns

So he's saying that if Nintendo doesn't release a successor so early in the generation, Nintendo is doomed?

Pachter is saying that, because he wants three consoles nearly identical, so it makes his life easier.

I just wish people would stop posting what this guy says. He is an idiot who knows nothing about gaming or game sales. Why do you guys keep posting what he says? I think the people who give him importance are even more annoying than he is.

My thoughts exactly. Why people seem obsessed with creating threads whenever the guy so much as blows a fart is beyond me.
