Isn't it natural that during the transition from the DS line to the 3DS Nintendo are going to see reduced profits? Pachter doesn't bother mentioning that, does he? He just spins it to "Aaah, now if Wii HD was out or coming out, Nintendo wouldn't be in this position!! I was right all along!!" Bullshit.

What is his agenda when it comes to Nintendo? The company behind the most successful handheld ever (and what may become the most successful videogame system ever) don't need advice from someone like Pachter. It was Nintendo who reversed their declining marketshare with the GC to Wii transition, and they did this by ignoring people like Pachter.

Pachter is a mouthpiece for the publishers. That's why he's always talking about hardware price cuts. One month after a platform cuts price, Pachter is talking about how they're going to have to cut price in the future.

Pachter talks about the Wii HD because the publishers want to make a game once and put it out on three nearly-identical platforms. They don't want to program it twice, design the game twice for different controls, or create two sets of textures. They want the content on all devices with minimal cost to them.

Pachter's job is to promote a market where the hardware manufacturers bend over backwards to court the favour of the publishers, slashing hardware revenues and subsidizing software development so that EA and Activision can make profits at the expense of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

This is a dismal way to put it but I could understand if someone thought this was how the whole thing worked.

Oh noez! Wii has been out for 3 years already, and Nintendo hasn't even announced a successor yet! And they've only posted a measly $2,430,000,000.00 in profits the past year! They're d0med!!

I think it was $2.95B

Nintendo Profit Falls to $2.4b in FY 3/2010, Gives FY 3/2011 Fcst

'For the year ending March 2010, Nintendo had revenues of 1.43 trillion Yen ($15.2 billion), down 22% from the previous fiscal year. Net income (profit) fell to 228.6 billion Yen ($2.43 billion) down 18% from 279.1 billion Yen ($2.97 billion) in the previous fiscal year.'

i agree, they need third party support badly and the fact that they need a better tech , its not 90's anymore tech gets upgraded rapidly.

What I dont get is how this hurting Nintendo? They are the current leader and will most likely stay that way for this gen. Wouldnt releasing another console so soon kinda screw over 70 million people? Not to mention the third parties that are currently working on games for the Wii. Some of which can turn out to be big. Yea, screwing over those who have already bought a Wii and expect atleast the normal 5 or so years outta of it sounds like a great plan. Wait, didnt Sega do this once?

I just wish people would stop posting what this guy says. He is an idiot who knows nothing about gaming or game sales. Why do you guys keep posting what he says? I think the people who give him importance are even more annoying than he is.

The Wii 2 delay is not hurting Nintendo. The Wii 2 delay is hurting Pachter's reputation as an analyst. In 2007, he first predicted Wii HD would be released as early as 2009. Since then, he has continuously had to back-pedal. Anyone know if he pushed his prediction back to 2011 yet?

Really? my sig say differently.

you know what i meant the .........game games for gamers.... (i also hate the "Core" word, or "Hardcore" it sounds like games that rapes you if you play them)

Well tatsunoko vs. capcom came out earlier this year it's the closest there is to marvel vs capcom 3 until that game actually releases.  Monster hunter tri released and it is one of the most popular rpg series there is.  Muramassa the demonblade came out late last year it's a classic side scroller in the vein of metroid and castlevania.  Final fantasy creator sakaguchi is making the last story so that game should be pretty good and finally square enix is bringing the most popular rpg series dragon quest 10 to the wii.

There are also many other examples of quality third party support if you look for it.
