Isn't it natural that during the transition from the DS line to the 3DS Nintendo are going to see reduced profits? Pachter doesn't bother mentioning that, does he? He just spins it to "Aaah, now if Wii HD was out or coming out, Nintendo wouldn't be in this position!! I was right all along!!" Bullshit.

What is his agenda when it comes to Nintendo? The company behind the most successful handheld ever (and what may become the most successful videogame system ever) don't need advice from someone like Pachter. It was Nintendo who reversed their declining marketshare with the GC to Wii transition, and they did this by ignoring people like Pachter.

Pachter is a mouthpiece for the publishers. That's why he's always talking about hardware price cuts. One month after a platform cuts price, Pachter is talking about how they're going to have to cut price in the future.

Pachter talks about the Wii HD because the publishers want to make a game once and put it out on three nearly-identical platforms. They don't want to program it twice, design the game twice for different controls, or create two sets of textures. They want the content on all devices with minimal cost to them.

Pachter's job is to promote a market where the hardware manufacturers bend over backwards to court the favour of the publishers, slashing hardware revenues and subsidizing software development so that EA and Activision can make profits at the expense of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
