Forums - Nintendo - Michael Pachter: Wii 2 delay is hurting Nintendo

Pachter can't see the forest for the trees. Nintendo's priority this year is 3DS (in large part due to plummeting DS software sales, Europe alone was down 50% this year), and you can expect the weight of the company to strongly shift behind that for 2011/2012. Then we'll see the Wii 2 in Q4 2012 (probably also when we'll see PS4/XB3).

Because launching a new system when you're selling more than everyone else, profiting and this after 4 years on the market is a smart thing. I think everyone knows the situation better than Pachter, that man is able just to look at numbers and say something stupid, without considering the leader position Nintendo has. No need of Wii2, just more games (especially in Japan) and bundles.

Delay?

Is this Pachter covering his ass over all the Wii HD releasing this year thing?

Wait... Did Ninty just lower HW projections AND SW projections?

D:

Wii 2 releasing this year!!!

Pachter, PLEASE don't hurt'em.  How many people does Pachter hurt each time he opens his mouth with these predictions?  Think of all that fanboys who put their reputation on the line trusting Pachter and have them ruined.  Apparently Pachter NOT delaying hurts people.

In recards to covering what he said regarding Wii HD, there could be something.  Apparently Pachter is upset that Nintendo doesn't listen to him, so he grabs onto anything to justify what he is saying.  Also, if Pachter were all that, wouldn't some game company hire him to run things?  He is supposed to be a financial wiz regarding the videogame industry, so some company in the industry must want him, and willing to pay him more than he makes now, right?

So yea, I'm going to buy a Wii HD so I can play games that are on the 360 and PS3?

I don't see the logic there..

Whenever you see "Michael Pachter" written, you should walk in, dropping logic, sense and accurate statements.

First of all, there was never a "Wii 2" being planned for release this year. This is a fanboy fantasy in Mr. Pachter's head.

Secondly, Nintendo is doing just fine and there is no reason to worry about them. Okay, so they sold less hardware and software in a year where we saw consumer spending levels reaching all-time lows. Does that mean their bubble is bursting?

In truth, they still have huge profits, and will continue to have huge profits. This is while other companies are still trying to make up their losses.

Third, Nintendo is being decidedly reserved on their projections. They don't want to be put in the position of having to lower their forecasts again. Also, they really can't foresee how successful a product like Wii Sleep might be. So they are being reserved, and it's more likely this time that they will outsell their projections.

you know what i meant the .........game games for gamers.... (i also hate the "Core" word, or "Hardcore" it sounds like games that rapes you if you play them)

- Wasteland - The Mission.

They are free to come out with a new console from late 2011 if they so chose. They don't need the extensive lead time to tell developers of a new console anyway given the familiarity with the interface and the multiplatform mentality. Therefore so long as the architecture is relatively straight forward and more powerful than the present consoles any game ought to slot in with very little effort.

Tease.

Isn't it natural that during the transition from the DS line to the 3DS Nintendo are going to see reduced profits? Pachter doesn't bother mentioning that, does he? He just spins it to "Aaah, now if Wii HD was out or coming out, Nintendo wouldn't be in this position!! I was right all along!!" Bullshit.

What is his agenda when it comes to Nintendo? The company behind the most successful handheld ever (and what may become the most successful videogame system ever) don't need advice from someone like Pachter. It was Nintendo who reversed their declining marketshare with the GC to Wii transition, and they did this by ignoring people like Pachter.

So he's saying that if Nintendo doesn't release a successor so early in the generation, Nintendo is doomed?
