No one ever said the PS3 isnt relevant. I think the the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be in a virtual tie to the end and the Wii a runaway success. The race then is too profitability as they realize they all have to learn to co-exist. No one is going anywhere.

Also, will the PS3 sink as much money as the original Xbox?

Well Sony brought out Uncharted with an equal amount of advertising.

Until Sony's best games release the PS3 will find it tough to match 360 sales in the US.

As for the long term profit of the PS3 that depends on when Sony drop the PS3 for their next console. If Sony drop it after 4yrs like Microsoft done to the Xbox then the PS3 will make a massive loss, but if Sony support the PS3 longterm then the PS3 losses will become gradually less.

I honestly can't see Sony releasing another console before 2013 at the earliest. I can see the next Microsoft console also competeing against the PS3.

It should, and sony has the psp and ps2 to stop the bleeding.

No way. Not in US. No where close. Uncharted didnt hardly have any advertising compared to Gears.

I'm not sure its a fair comparison. The 360 underperformed in year#1, when it should have been leaving the competition in the dust.

Sony from a political standpoint are forced to match MS *this* year - last years figures don't really mean much now.

Still - its a very positive sign for Sony. They look like matching the 360 *again* this week - worldwide - which is a ***really*** bad sign for MS - they should be an easy 20%-30% ahead per week.

Mass Effect has sort of failed to ignite the charts as well - maybe I (and others) were overestimating the impact of the title (possibly because its a setting I personally like).

Maybe its time for MS to bring in that other $50 price cut, across the board...
