New Bungie IP to be an action RPG, suggests job listing

It looks like the “next big action game universe” Bungie is currently building with Activision might just be an action RPG.

The studio is looking for a writing lead for the storyline of the new title, according to a job listing on its website, with the developer especially keen on writers who provide a “branching or non-linear narrative experience”.

On that nugget of info alone, Gamespot suggests it could be an action RPG in a similar form like Mass Effect 2 or Deus Ex.

The developer announced last week it had signed a ten-year deal with Activision for full publishing and distribution rights to the new IP:  Bungie will maintain full control on the series.

Get everything from the deal’s announcement from last week here.

In the meantime, the studio’s currently focusing on Halo: Reach, which launched its multiplayer beta earlier tonight.

Hmm, a Bungie RPG. I will take this with a grain of salt.

I have a hunch that it'll be Activisons take on EA's Mass Effect.

OMG Now I actually care that this game might be on PS3!

So Activision plan take the RPG Genre by storm now!

@Richardtunik

thats not possible since MS owns the Halo IP.

Action RPG = MMOARPG?

Tease.

Mass Effect is the exact opposite direction rpgs in general should be heading, so if Bungie is my friend they will make an awesome action rpg that is not primarily a shooter... that is, if they make an action rpg at all, otherwise I don't care what they do.

It depends how they implement this. Will it be a bethesda stle First Person RPG, we know bungie can do First Person, maybe it would be good for them to develop it along those lines. But when we talk about action it seems it may be a 3rd Person game

Bioware already said ME3 will have more RPG depth. Unlike most devs don't give a damn about their fans
