I swear someone said they lost the profits gained from the PS1 but can't find it.

I'm not sure they want to throw Natal, a bigger harddrive, and a couple of their best games into the box to boot badly enough to take the $200.00 loss to beat back the PS3.

But what about that chart thing were Sony are still 1.5 bil up yet MS are like 7 bil under? Wish I could find it |
That was the original Xbox, not the 360.

** 2007 Y/E starts April 1st 2006, 8 months before PS3's release.

I still don't think that will be enough to get their momentum back. They will have still have to throw in a couple of their highly regarded games, like they have bundled with the Elite now, into that $299 package as well if they really want to turn the tide. I'm not sure they want to throw Natal, a bigger harddrive, and a couple of their best games into the box to boot badly enough to take the $200.00 loss to beat back the PS3. |
So basically you mean the X360 is doomed lol?
Cos I can't see them selling all that for less than $299. I do think they can afford to throw in ODST and Forza 3 in that package though cos that wouldn't cost much, it's only a few Dollars per DVD. The question is if those bundled games would make much difference in sales. I don't think so.

Ok, firstly, a slim model would reduce costs of the console, just like it has the PS3. Not to mention the Elite is making money anyway. Secondly a 250GB HDD won't cost much more than a 120GB HDD, despite the hike in price compared in models. Thirdly, they're already bundling ODST and Forza, 3 two very good games to bundle. Lastly, we don't know how much Natal is going to cost, and if they will make a profit/loss from it. For all we know it could $50, with them making a profit, or $100, with them making a loss.
Best case scenario, Natal actually costs them $50 to produce and they bundle it free with a $299 elite. With the elite already making money, and the slim further cutting costs. It seems to me they'll break even, where on earth you got $200 loss from I don't know, even if Natal costs $100.

Well since it's coming out in the Fall, the bundled games would probably have to be newer than ODST and Forza III. Probably Alan Wake and another big one. |
No they don't have to bundle such new games. Cos I never see PS3 being bundled with Sony's big games for $299 even though they have plenty to choose from (Uncharted 2, Lil Big Planet, Ratcher, Killzone2, Infamous etc). Not even one game is bundled with the $299 Slim!
its all about the games ,PS3 has upped thier game with some great exc, Microsoft needs to up thiers
