Ya I've tried the PC version, and it's pretty similar to MMOs I've played. But I prefer playing it on console.

I don't think it's better. Really... I just think the control setup for these type of games feels a little old, and unintuitive on PC.

I also play the PS3 version though which is supposed to be graphically superior than the 360 version, but with some minor framerate issues compared to the 360 version.

In the context of Dragon Age: PS3 > 360 > PC (IMO)

Not very good at RTS or PVP in MMO I assume, don't even try to tell me that you are top tier Star Craft or WoW, because I call bullshit right now before you'd even try after reading that. Try and bring the word "intuitive" on dual analog with those games when you can't even pause, bullshit all over the place.

wait, you can't even pause the console version? It's kinda a different game then isn't it almost.  isn't it kinda like if you made oblivion a third person, uhh wacker rpg? it would be quite a different game.

oh you can pause, but you don't have to, ever, the game is that much easier on consoles. I was talking about RTS online or MMO.

Haha I know you weren't talking ot me, I liked Supreme Commander only I sucked at it. But on PC this was the hardest bioware game recently, err I guess harder than Kotor and Mass Effect by quite a lot, atleast to me.

i'd have to respectfully disagree with you. The console very is just WAY to easy. I prefer the challenge that the PC version gives you. IMO these types of games are meant to be challenging and not a walk in the park. Thats just my view.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I noticed a lot of you mentioned the challenge of the PC version, and I definitely agree the PC version is a bigger challenge, which I also normally enjoy. The console version is a walk in the park in comparison and for this game it just felt like the right pace.

I play the PC version but never use the top-down view. Top-down 'birds eye' view is annoying. I use zoomed out, about half-ways zoomed out.

I have no doubt the console version works well, but still cool to hear that from a guy who played the PC version first!

OK, you're weird :P

With games like this I tend to play close up 3rd-person then zoom out when the action starts. I find it's more fun if close up if I'm exploring or talking, however, when fighting the top-down strategy view is just so useful. I can't imagine how annoying the placement of area based spells would be or trying to get characters in set positions with the console controls.

AoE damage doesnt hurt allies in the console version Scoobes so its alot easier with AoE spells in that way. Which i believe takes the strategy out of it. Another reason why i disliked the console version. Allies cannot harm other allies with AoEs etc.

The top-down view was one of the things I really liked about the PC version.
Was the console version really easier?

I would say I like fantasy WRPGs on PC and console equally well. I really liked Baldur's Gate, Icewindale and Neverwinter Nights. But I also really liked Dark Alliance I and II. I thought Draken: the Ancient's Gate was cool. And I might be one of the few but I liked Summoner a lot. I liked Summoner 2 as well but never got to finishing it.

Glad to hear a PC WRPG fan is liking DA:O on console because that's what I'll be playing it on if I ever get to it. I think you've just made it go up my priority list a bit. Though Demon's Souls, GoWIII and Heavy Rain are still ahead of it.

Anyone played Demon's Souls and DA:O on (either) console who can voice a preference?

Of course the fact that the Black Phantom is coming out with a strategy guide included at a significantly cheaper price than DA:O is still on right now certainly works in Demon's Souls favour.
