04/May/2010 EA shoot to the top of the All Formats Chart this week as ‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’ debuts at No1 putting an end to Ubisoft’s 4-week run. It’s not surprising to see FIFA depose Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction’ from top spot with what is the World Cup themed version of the 10th biggest selling game ever in the UK, ‘FIFA 10’. During this week in World Cup Year 2006, the launch of ‘FIFA World Cup Germany 2006’ represented 15% of FIFA 2006’s launch week. ‘2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa’, although released on only XB360, PS3, PSP and Wii (compared to 7 formats in 2006), performs in a similar fashion, recording 14.6% of FIFA 10’s launch week. The PS3 version just pips XB360, accounting for 48%, XB360 47% with PSP and Wii making up the rest. It was the other way round at the launch of FIFA 10 with XB360 48% and PS3 46%. At No2 this week is another reinterpretation of a classic with ‘Super Street Fighter IV’ debuting ahead of Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’.

Monster Hunting is popular. Speaking from personal experiece, ive chatted to french, spanish and also some other english speakers online. Suppose thats one benefit of integrating Australia/New Zealand with european servers.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
Final Fantasy XIII went up on the UK Chart again this week, despite several new releases
Its pretty clear the game is getting a positive word of mouth since after its release both versions were out of the top 40 for one week & then they came back in after that and continued to rise every week. 2 Months after a games launch if its sales continue to increase weekly, its word of mouth doing the trick, congrats to the company & game.
On the other hand I still can't believe Forza 3's amazing continued momentum, truly it may have put a dent in the potential Gran Turismo 5 sales.
Still a very good week for TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION.
And why MIRROR'S EDGE Xbox 360 back in the chart?
GOW Trilogy should be counted separately since its just a bundle.

FFXIII PS3 > FFXIII Xbox 360 again.
Forza seems to be fading away from the charts.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!
Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
The Xbox Man said: Final Fantasy XIII went up on the UK Chart again this week, despite several new releases |
Isn't it being heavily bundled, which would explain it?
