Exactly what thread says.  Suppossedly GT5 will be in 3d and all 3d games are apparently to run in 720p.  The GT5P looked amazing and I don't want to lose that quality being that I can't afford 4G for a new tv.  Will they have 2 different versions or are the HD tvs gonna be stuck on 720?  Thoughts?

3D will probably be a setting in-game that you can toggle on/off. It shouldn't have any impact on the regular "2d" view.

*sigh* you activate 3D mode and it goes to 720p (probably), but in normal 2D mode it will be 1280x1080 (like GT5:P) or real 1080p or whatever

PC games can run natively in many many different resolutions, why wouldn't a console game be able to run in 2 different ones, huh?

1) 3d will be an option, as a few others have said

2) They have hopefully got the code running more efficiently since prologue, so maybe there won't need to be too much reduction to get it working in 3d

3) They will likely reduce both the framerate and the resolution in 3d mode, such that neither change is all that noticeable

It'll be like Oblivion was before the recent patches were out where you can't enable both HDR and Bloom, 3D and 1080p probably won't walk hand in hand in GT5 but who cares?
I'll be playing it with 3D turned off at any rate.

I thought GT5p was 1280x1080...thats still kind of 1080p somewhat. lol

But yeah, 3d will not be anywhere close to 1080p. 720p @ 30 frames per eye tops.

i guess you need 2 Playstations for 1080p 3D just like for the multiple screen setups
