bt it did. to put things in perspctve, if ff13 hd done like at least ff10 in japan its sales wud be nearing 6 million now (combiend) and it wud probably be able to outsell ff7/8 worldwide. japan let ff13 sales down and with tht the franchise weakened. ff10 launched with 5 million PS2's but sold 1 million more than ff13. FF7 launched with 4.5 Million PS1's but ff7 sold 4 million. the userbase excuse wnt work with me.

Well also take into account you are talking about JPN LTD sales of the other games compared to 3-4 months of FFXIII sales. Those sales could easily go up to catch FF XII with new versions.

You aren't really putting things into perspective at all... I would say more is to blame on FFXI and FFXII... they let down expectations on a large userbase, and sure, FFVII and FFX were released small userbased, but those consoles went on to sell over twenty million in Japan, which means more copies of FFVII and FFX get sold due to word of mouth.  I believe the same will happen with FFXIII, but the PS3 may only reach 10 million lifetime sales in Japan, so I wouldn't predict any more than 3 million sales for FFXIII... which would be crazy good for the userbase size.  So in summary... you're crazy if you think Final Fantasy needs revived in Japan... very few games are capable of selling 3 million... especially 4 million... in one country!

They have been talking about the western market for a while now.

FF13 certainly didn't flop, the entire Japanese market is down, not just FF games. It just didn't make as much revenue as previous titles in the series.
