You aren't really putting things into perspective at all... I would say more is to blame on FFXI and FFXII... they let down expectations on a large userbase, and sure, FFVII and FFX were released small userbased, but those consoles went on to sell over twenty million in Japan, which means more copies of FFVII and FFX get sold due to word of mouth. I believe the same will happen with FFXIII, but the PS3 may only reach 10 million lifetime sales in Japan, so I wouldn't predict any more than 3 million sales for FFXIII... which would be crazy good for the userbase size. So in summary... you're crazy if you think Final Fantasy needs revived in Japan... very few games are capable of selling 3 million... especially 4 million... in one country!
