Forums - Sales - Microsoft is eerie silent these few weeks :0 I wonder why :0

I have a question to everyone who keeps insisting that the PS3 is doing great while the Xbox 360 is now doomed. Why is there never any PS3 software in the NPD or VGChartz top 10 software sales every month? I would argue that as a Blue-ray player, the PS3 is doing great. As a game console though, it is not very successful at all. What do people think software publishers and developers look at? Game sales - units sold. That is the only thing that matters and for a console that many people argue is doing well, why are there been no successful games (successful by sales only - not game quality!). Take out Resistance and what has sold really well? R&C is great but has tanked; Uncharted is great but sales seem very slow; Heavenly Sword - again no sales. What game on the PS3 has sold in Gears of War numbers, a game released on or near the 1-year anniversary date of the Xbox360? I am sorry but until software sales start taking off, it is very difficult for anyone to say the PS3 as a game console is doing well.

Think about it like this, the PS3 has managed to take two new IP's (Resistance, Motorstorm) and turn them into million sellers. There has been only one game out for the PS3 that has seen success from the PS2 brand (Ratchet & Clank)

See, going from this perspective the playstation brand has added two new games to their library of million sellers. The 360 has released PGR 4, Forza 2, Halo 3, Gears of War, is there any games that come out that can have the same impact as those four? No, let's not forget some of these games released next to each other in the same year. I'm not saying that the games for 360 in 08 will be terrible, but compare it to 2007, their best year is behind them.

They were bundled (both together) with the 60 GB Starter Pack in Europe for a long time, so it's hardly surprising.

You seem to forget in your statement that Gears of War was also a new IP. Also, Lost Odyssey, Viva pinata, and Crackdown are new IPS. Capcom also had million seelers in Dead rising and Lost Planet. Also new Ips. A little game called Bioshock and Mass Effect are also new Ips. Whats your arguement about?

These arguments against the 360 are mute when you take into consideration, it wasn't supposed to be doing this well against the PS3. I saw someone even compare the 1st 8 months of the 360 & PS3. That doesn't matter either. You know why? Because they didn't launch simultaneously. The reality is the 360 has about double the sales of the PS3. You guys can go and spin all the numbers you want if it makes you feel secure about your purchase. Here I'll help you out....In Japan the 360 has 500,000 sold after a year head start while the PS3 has sold 1.4 mil in half the time.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

One fact for damn sure is that Sony dropped the ball hard. Nintendo and Microsoft shouldnt even be running this fast at all seeing that they were market leader with an 80% market share last generation.

They sold a million BEFORE they were bundled. Resistance is going to hit 2 million with a bundle. If we go by your logic, Forza 2 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance sales increased because of a bundle.

Xbox 360 has 28 million selling titles. I seriously doubt they care what motorstorm and resistance has done. They fart on those games.

It's pathic that the 360 is being out sold by the PS3 when its cheaper and has better games. and to say that it's because of Blu ray. Come on.

Pathetic on the part of the fanboys that prove Sony right when they say you guys will buy their console with no games for it. I guess your right! It's a shame that these people call themselves gamers and actually believe it. You're probably one of the few people that can already see how diverse the PS3's library already is compared to the 360.

Um, maybe you didn't get the memo, the 360 has been out for two years, maybe that's why they sold 14 million units. They had NO COMPETITION for a full year.

I'll say this, for the PS3 to sell at the rate of the 360 with a $600 price tag at launch is good, very good.

Your argument makes no sense. Sorry.

^^

Sorry, I have to disagree, when it was released, Xbox 360 was treading uncharted waters. And yes they have serious competition. If you can remember, Sony released serious amounts of PR promising PS3 is better in a lot of aspect. And not to mention PS2 was still selling strong during that time period.

Reason why PS3 is selling stronger now that the PS2 is starting to decay in sales.
