| Zyzomys said: I have a question to everyone who keeps insisting that the PS3 is doing great while the Xbox 360 is now doomed. Why is there never any PS3 software in the NPD or VGChartz top 10 software sales every month? I would argue that as a Blue-ray player, the PS3 is doing great. As a game console though, it is not very successful at all. What do people think software publishers and developers look at? Game sales - units sold. That is the only thing that matters and for a console that many people argue is doing well, why are there been no successful games (successful by sales only - not game quality!). Take out Resistance and what has sold really well? R&C is great but has tanked; Uncharted is great but sales seem very slow; Heavenly Sword - again no sales. What game on the PS3 has sold in Gears of War numbers, a game released on or near the 1-year anniversary date of the Xbox360? I am sorry but until software sales start taking off, it is very difficult for anyone to say the PS3 as a game console is doing well. |
Think about it like this, the PS3 has managed to take two new IP's (Resistance, Motorstorm) and turn them into million sellers. There has been only one game out for the PS3 that has seen success from the PS2 brand (Ratchet & Clank)
See, going from this perspective the playstation brand has added two new games to their library of million sellers. The 360 has released PGR 4, Forza 2, Halo 3, Gears of War, is there any games that come out that can have the same impact as those four? No, let's not forget some of these games released next to each other in the same year. I'm not saying that the games for 360 in 08 will be terrible, but compare it to 2007, their best year is behind them.
Didja get that thing I sentcha?
