so there's a reason why PS3 is outselling Xbox 360 a little. Since it's the cheapest Bluray player and it has a wonderful deal bundled w/ tons of movies, not to mention that BR is more popular than HD-DVD, I think it's pretty practical for someone looking for a HD player to get the PS3. (little contribution to PS3 software sales though).

Remember, HDTV sales have gone up significantly lately.

I agree.

I'll take the case!!!

There is precious little MS can do other than sit idly by while the competition respectively leaves them in the dust and catches up slowly but certainly. (I think you mean slowly but surely)
We knew all along that the 360 would never sell well in Japan, and that it would sell only mediocre in the EU, so no one should be surprised.
I know 2 people who have a 360 personally, one of them recently went bust when the RRoD came a' knockin...

If PS3 continues to LEAVE XBOX360 IN THE DUST at the current rate of 10,000 more per week, it will only take them 700 weeks which will be over 13 years. So PS3 would catch the 360 in 2020, I don't think Microsoft will mind.

Wut?! You do realize that the Wii was part of that equation, right? It always is. The PS3 is catching up WW, which no one can deny, and the Wii has sold more than the 360 in half the time...

As for the slowly but certainly part; why? Would you say "slow and sure"? I sure wouldn't.

This time of the year. You let the sales and charts do the talking. Or you should anyway. Overall MS is doing fine. Nothing more needs to be said.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

How's that conclusion came up, that Microsoft doesn't do well???? Last Generation 120m-25m. Now Generation Sony, just CLOSING THE GAP. And Look at it, I'm playing FREAKING GAMES with my 360. I dont't watch BRmovies as my 3(!!!) neighbours do ! (yeap, they haven't buy a single game!)

Closing the gap? The PS3 is not closing the gap at all...

PS3's install base now - 6.13 million
360's install base now - 13.43 million
Current gap - 7.3 million
Gap at PS3's launch - 5.2 million

I don't see any gap being closed.

Considering it's holiday season and the Xbox 360 is losing some steam while Mass Effect is having "disappointing sales" I wonder why MS is quiet. They haven't even made a press release re. last month's NPD results. I wonder why :0

Hmm.. yeah.... microsoft did have an October press release

Anyways, thanks for playing!

I haven't read that if there was one. But you got the point didn't you?

It's pathic that the 360 is being out sold by the PS3 when its cheaper and has better games. and to say that it's because of Blu ray. Come on.

I'll take the case!!!

I have a question to everyone who keeps insisting that the PS3 is doing great while the Xbox 360 is now doomed. Why is there never any PS3 software in the NPD or VGChartz top 10 software sales every month? I would argue that as a Blue-ray player, the PS3 is doing great. As a game console though, it is not very successful at all. What do people think software publishers and developers look at? Game sales - units sold. That is the only thing that matters and for a console that many people argue is doing well, why are there been no successful games (successful by sales only - not game quality!). Take out Resistance and what has sold really well? R&C is great but has tanked; Uncharted is great but sales seem very slow; Heavenly Sword - again no sales. What game on the PS3 has sold in Gears of War numbers, a game released on or near the 1-year anniversary date of the Xbox360? I am sorry but until software sales start taking off, it is very difficult for anyone to say the PS3 as a game console is doing well.

What point?

I dont get this thread. Sony releases PR (like they did before the bad news before last NPD) that is most likly so they get some good press before the real news happens. MS hasnt release Black Friday PR yet, but all indications is that 360 is selling out all over the country. Sure we know the reason must be that MS only shipped the same amount as October (sarcasm). Yet MS did release PR after the last NPD. Remember the one talking about how 360 software sales doubled PS3 and Wii combined, etc., etc.

People in this thread are acting like the PS3 isnt going to get spanked by the 360 in the November and December NPD's. We all know that the PS3 only savings grace is Japan where it is performing horribly, but not as horrible as the 360 and to a much lessor extent in Europe where it still looks like 360 will lead at the end of 2008.

Libraries sell systems not individual games

^^

Sony is seriously cranking up the PR lately. New ads, promoting Assassin's Creed, PS3 sales up 300% etc. Not to mention price cuts. While Microsoft, no word on Mass Effect sales, no decent ad for Mass Effect too.
