Even with Xbox Live and a profitable Xbox I don't see Microsoft making 60% the amount of Nintendo. They just don't sell enough of either subscriptions or consoles.

Ouch!

Don't forget about the software. Most wii titles are $50 while most 360 titles are $60. The $10 difference adds up quickly.

Xbox360 actually went down 1%.. but the Wii is still rising with +21%.. DS went down 19%.. its not about making money.. it's about Brand Salience, Awareness, experience, image, identity, extension, loyalty and more... the Wii is just an amazing brand... did everything right.. good price, ads, market to more people, etc 360 is also doing good.. PS3 had a bad start with alienating commercials, ads focusing on a small market, high price etc.. thats why it's low.. but it's going up and will continue to rise the next years.. |
I think you're answer is correct as that actually makes sense.
@other people besides NiKKoM What the article means is vague and I don't care to investigate. As, also if you counting profits of xbox live. Wouldn't it be useful to count 25% of the Blu-Ray Royalties as Sony own's about that much of the Blu-Ray IP with Panasonic, Pioneer, and Warner. As that's part of what Sony Banked the PS3 on (and that strategy kinda failed with screwing up the playstation brand, but securing some royalties for the next I don't know how many years).

But how much is Microsoft getting. Because Microsoft gets 10 dollars ish right? How much Nintendo get? Because I thought the reason why the wii was cheaper was it was cheaper for the devs to develop for so they didn't need to increase price on software like the PS3 and Xbox360

It depends if they define 'earnings' as revenue or profit. If revenue then we can all have a laugh at this and move on, if profit, they may end up being right
# 101
psrock = $2

That excuse was a big pile of junk. Pc games are in hd just like ps3 and 360 but most of them are still $50. Microsoft and Sony charge $60 so they can get more in royalty money. Nintendo decided to keep theirs the same this gen.
It seems fairly true. Who would deny that Sony as a company has taken quite a tumble over the past two decades?
Tease.
