Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Spain I have to say is unsurprising. The country has a very strong Playstation following.

Germany however is interesting, the PS3 seems to be picking up a bit of steam there.

Clearly the PC is King in Germany.

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

@ Dallinor

I thought it was striking because in Germany the XBox 360 still has a larger install base (1 year and 5 months headstart).

Although the PS3 has already outsold the XBox 360 in Spain, I didn't expect to see such a big gap between software sales at this stage.

At this stage the PC certainly has a larger install base in the country. I think one year from now the PS3 may well beat PC sales during a simultaneous release of a high profile game.

What is even more striking, If I'm reading the charts correctly.

Software for each console:

Console Weekly
1,521,464
1,287,039
1,213,412
1,152,301
1,096,589
417,969
Total 6,688,774

The PS3 sold over a million pieces of software last week? So about 50% of PS3 owners in the EU bought a game last week?

It's software is selling at almost twice the rate of 360 or Wii games for it's install base.

The PS3 sold 38000 units in germany in october for 12000 x360....the later still has some advantage but it decreases fast...

Aren't a lot of those sales bundles?

@stranne: I think not, Motorstorm isn't even on the list. But actually I have some doubts in European numbers. Half of PS3 users would buy a game in just one week? I think ioi have overestimated sales and not only for PS3. I'm watching European charts every week and PS3 is doing very good often winning with Xbox 360 software so my guess is that sales are too high on all platforms. I know that ioi often overestimated games' sales in NA in comparision to NPD data, so the situation may also take place in Europe.

well, first week for ioi's european data. i also have significant doubts about software data--it looks way too clean--in that from #1 to #50 the decrease just looks too clean. typically it's more "power-law" oriented at the top, while it's almost linear for the week.

the Wii is an epidemic.
