Saw a nice looking one for $600, which is about half of what I would expect for the area..


So sent this email to him...

Just inquiring as to your Craiglist ad for the 1 bedroom apartment in Mississauga

Is this still available, the price says $600, is this per month, per week, a typo? :)


And this is the reply I got...  Think he is legit?  LOL - I think I may reply a few times just to mess with him


Am very glad for your interest in my apartment. This home is extensive with an area and a living room,1 bedroom,bathroom. the cabinets extended in kitchen and the site of the laundry, screen door that slipped of order in the lateral entrance. It includes the guarantee. The home is under 3 years of construcion. We have each convenience that you could always wish. We have a friendly community of neighbors.. Portions of activities such as passages, bingo, klutch of the coffee, divided groups that roll and for every holiday. The restaurants, supermarket, the post office and the warehouses are within distance that walks. But now I am on a christain mission in a country called Nigeria in west africa and thats the main reason for which we are looking forward to give out this apartment for rent to a family who can take good care of our house as his own I will like to solicit for your absoulute maintenance. and also please fill in the rent details and get back if you are really interested in having our apartment so that i can know all about you.

I'd look into it if it is a good deal. Make sure you take a long hard look at the apartment to ensure that there isn't any hidden issue with the property.

Sucks that rent costs so much in Ontario. I own an apartment complex in Ohio, and am only wanting $425/mo for rent, hehe. Wish I could get $600 or more a pop.

thats a decent rpice for Ontario, the place I'm moving too next month has similar rent, 550$ a month and it's pretty much downtown Ottawa

I just went to see what $600 was in American dollars: The answer is $599.42! Apparantly either the Amiercan dollar has really dropped in value or the Candian dollar has jumped up, because not that long ago it was .74/1 or similar.



No one in the world ever gets what they want, and that is beautiful.

I'd imagine that he may ask for SIN at some point for background checks.

If in case he does ask for such a thing, only produce it once you've seen the apartment and can verify that he is indeed the owner.

The questions any landlord has are usually pretty standard - occupation, past rental history, familial information, arrest record, ect. Essentially, the landlord wants to make sure that he has good tennants that will stay there a long time, and always pay on time.

I googled rental scams craigslist and there were a ton of email's very similar to this one - almost word for word which was a scam, pretty sure this one will be no different ;)

Emailed him back anyhow asking to see the place, said if he is in Nigeria then he should have some sort of person to act as a proxy on his behalf, etc. we will see what he comes back with

And Commonman, the CDN $ was actually above par there a couple days ago, might actually be again..

Would be a good time to buy up American Currency, but.. probably better to buy Chinese currency :P

Hahaha this is scam indeed
I was looking for apartment (for my friend) and got a vry similar email
But the difference is that am in chicago
Next step is: send me the deposit $ then I'll send u the key's of the apartment

Don't believe this stuff
