I'd imagine that he may ask for SIN at some point for background checks.
If in case he does ask for such a thing, only produce it once you've seen the apartment and can verify that he is indeed the owner.
The questions any landlord has are usually pretty standard - occupation, past rental history, familial information, arrest record, ect. Essentially, the landlord wants to make sure that he has good tennants that will stay there a long time, and always pay on time.
