to everyone here, i am a muslim and that episode clearly hurt the sentiments of all muslims. it wasnt required when you know that you are going to offend someone by talking about their belief and religion. I dnt know ppl like to label muslims as terrorists and extremists these days but it is so easy to do that without understanding or bothering to understand their beliefs and values.
the southpark creators just want money and thats it, and how will they do it, obviously by talking about something that people dont like. its not necessary that what is funny to you is funny for everyone else.we dont like it when someone talks like that about our prophet (peace be upon him),period! and then why do people still do it or show things and hence intentionally/unintentionally hurt our feelings. As a human being, i wouldnt want to hurt someone if i knew what hurts that person but knowing so and still doing it makes people morons and i dont want to use any more foul words bcoz the creators of southpark arent worth it for me.

and ya one more thing: its all a question of faith and nothing more.. peace!!

The funny thing is (and what the episode was conveying) is that several years ago absolutely no body cared when south park showed an image of him in an episode but since the whole Danish cartoon fiasco people are making a big deal over what was previously just ignored and now his name can't even be mentioned on tv. The episodes in no way attempted to make fun of or intentionally upset muslims (even though every other religious leader was poked fun at). For some reason and what I suspect Tery and Matt find equally ridiculous is religion is given special protection over any other subject when it comes to satire.

Back to the OP, it wasn't a 'death threat' it was a warning saying that they could be harmed not that they would be. Still pathetic and equally abhorrent but slightly different to how it is being reported.

I dont know about several years ago what happened in southpark, but now that i hear about it, i am equally upset and i am sure muslims were upset everywhere.just that some lunatic dint say that he will kill southpark creators doesnt mean muslims were not offended.its not considered right in our religion to draw any pictures about our prophet(peace be upon him), and we do have a right to be upset if anyone does or say something stupid like that.like i said before in this thread, resorting to voilence is wrong, but being vocal about it in the right way is no wrong at all.

if someone says stupid things about your mom in certain cultures, then you would consider it a joke or take it lightly, bcoz its cool, things like that are common, but in certain cultures where people really consider their mom and dad next to god, then that person will get offended by your joke.maybe this helps! There are many things that are different in many religions but no religion teaches or preaches voilence and in the end we are all brothers..

i dont know if u are trying to be funny here , but i dint say someone should die,now did i?its just some wackos that say that and they dont represent our religion.

I don't know if you are trying to be obtuse here, but you seemed to be making a lot of apologetic noises about some assholes threatening to kill people for hurting their feelings. Given how often people have been killed or threatened with death by offended Muslims, I might even go so far as to say that I find your post somewhat offensive!

As long as Muslims threaten to KILL those who disagree with them, people will label them as terrorists and extremists. I'm against all religions but Islam is the only one whose adherents are so intolerant of other groups that they would resort to violence.. the worst part of it is that there is not a single condemnation from the Muslim world. Quit acting like barbarians and the world will not treat you as such.

so you are trying to say that the muslim world is barbaric, how can i even argue against such logic ..there have always been condemnations when a tragic thing has happened bcoz of terrorists who hide under the image of being islamic leaders, which they are not.A terrorist is a terrorist, he has no religion watsoever, he will only try and bring up nonsense when trying to justify his reasons or motives.yes there are extremists who will resort to violence when proving their point about their religion, but you can find those everywhere in this world.its not right to hurt someone to prove your point or reason, and every sane person in the muslim world will also agree  with that. i dint like people said something funny on national television about my religion, so i will say i am not happy about it, now am i killing someone ?no i am not.i will just tell you that islam teaches peace not voilence.

You are defending people who have threatened a TV show which they see as offensive to their religion. The same groups have issued death threats and started riots over a freaking cartoon in Denmark. In a free society, people are allowed to criticise religion.. if some are offended by that they have no right to make death threats. Did you even see the South Park episode in question? It shows Buddha snorting cocaine.. are Buddhists threatening to kill the creators of South Park? No, they're not. Death threats ** ARE ** terrorism and the fact that you would defend those making threats is very telling.

If you want, you can watch the episode in question at southparkstudios.com it would be very interesting to hear your take on it..

dude, did you even read my whole post? i am not defending anyone, yes i watched the show a little to the point where i got upset.people who issue death threats in our religion DO NOT REPRESENT ISLAM AS A WHOLE.THEY ARE SICK AND NEED A REASON TO BE SICK, so plz stop generalizing.

the place i come from, i have seen my childhood friend being killed when he was studying bcoz he was a muslim and many small innocent kids who liked mario and sonic like every other kid beaten to death just bcoz they were muslims. now what did they do wrong in their short lifetime?nothing.they were just muslims, thats it.and people who killed them , i dont hate their religion or label it as a terrorist religion bcoz i know that their religion does not teach that.and for the buddha part, i saw that as well, i know buddhists did not react or say anything, its just a difference of culture and teachings in religion.refer to my earlier post. hope it helps!

Damkira I'm disappointed in you. :(  I think you have taken this too far. I know that I don't know a lot about muslims but I do know that most of them are peaceful people. I also happen to know that just because a couple of other idiots who call them selves muslims do something stupid all of a sudden we look down on the innocents who didn't and try to fix what the idiots did and all of a sudden it has gotten quite paranoid. Almost as if you feel like you need to point a finger at someone and mostly for no good reason. I mean yes I can say that there are some things that the muslim world has done that's not exactly agreeable but since when has it been fair to point a finger at a masses and pass judgement unfairly?

On another note. Only insecure people will get offended by a show like this. They had some episodes where they were making fun of Eastern Europeans at one point, and I couldn't give a rat's ass. I am not so insecure as to take offense at a cartoon.

I guess those guys need to mature past the mental age of 15. This goes not only for the offended Muslims by South Park, but anyone offended by anything.

@imran

Look at the topic of this thread. You were defending Muslims as being offended by this cartoon. I have read all of your posts, nobody argued the point that Muslims feelings were not hurt.. anywhere in this thread. The argument consistently has been that these people have no right to make death threats. I'm very sorry to hear of your friends who have suffered violence because they are Muslims. I would think that would make you extra sensitive to the importance of freedom of religion, no?

I don't think he was defending them. I think he was saying that it makes him sad to know that these people could do this under the name of islam.

@migro,you have a very gud point sir, i am not gonna argue much here, but sometimes some people have so much faith in something that it defies even logic for some.
Even I dont know why people in general get so rude sometimes and make remarks which dont make sense. Hope everyone would live peacefully and understand each other.I know thats too much to ask these days..

He wasn't trying to be obtuse he was trying to be acute...nothing?

Anyways I didn't get to see the episode and it isn't available on the website so I have no idea what's going on, and even though in the guide for TV it says 201 it isn't, they are showing other repeats.
