Not only has Nintendo made me one hell of a happy customer this gen, but they have also ruined the gen for others. It is like a overdrive of happy.

You're glad that other people are unhappy or dissatisfied? That's sad, truly sad, to the point of the OP.

For the stupid reasons stated? very

Galaxy wouldn't work as well on PS3 as wii. The motion controls are what make the game fun and its a experiance than can't work on PS3.

The motion controls are what make Super Mario Galaxy fun? Erm, no they aren't. The fantastic level design is what makes it fun.

Which includes the way it is able to be played hence the different uses of the motion controls making it funner than just say steering a ray with the D pad or a analog. It is the whole package that is great. Missing one part starts to ruin what makes it such a pleasure to play.

We all know that graphics are not Nintendo's focus, but the Wii being enough to accomodate Galaxy's ideas is irrelevant to my point.

As I pointed out in my response to @tube82:

Galaxy is a mighty beautiful game, as are many of Nintendo's games on Wii.  Obviously they put a lot of effort into many of their game's visuals, as they've always done on all of their systems and will continue to do as their tech advances over the years.

Whenever Nintendo comes out with new hardware you can bet that they will take advantage of its capabilities with ground-up games like a new Galaxy or Zelda.

It is relevant, Galaxy was in development long before the Wii, it was in fact in development just before Sunshine was released, Nintendo would of known long before the Wii hit shelves what the console needed to push their ideas due to the designers relaying the type of ideas they had with R&D hence why your point doesn't hold up and can't hold up in any debate as you can't back up debates with cliffhanger what if logic. Nintendo knew they had they needed in the Wii before it went on sale hence why the only solid logic that can be derived from your point is that SMG would be the same only in HD.

Actually my point holds up just fine, and I'll state it again:  Galaxy being in development for so long is, again, irrelevant:  Nintendo's focus was obviously not about the graphics with Wii; it never is.  My point is WHEN Nintendo has an inevitable upgrade in hardware, you'll see even better looking games from them, plain and simple.  No "cliffhanger" or "what if" logic here:  Just look at SMW vs SMB or A Link to the Past vs the original Zelda.  It just makes sense...

@killerYoshis I see where your coming from, going to standard controls would defeat the whole purpose of WII. But it seems thats where devs are going, lets keep it real, most of the WII games can be done on a standard controller, NSMBWii, Metroid, Mario Kart, Brawl besides the Wii Sports games most on Ninty games "motion control" feel like an afterthought (looking at you Twilight Princess) 3rd parties are not even trying anymore. They really need to try to focus on motion+ Red steel 2 is the only game that has really pushed Wii, in controls and visuals

OF course they can be done on a standered controller. Just like how some nes ames could work with joystick controls
We are only in the begining. As time passes wii would get controls so advance that you would HATE to go back. Here I'll
give you reasons why

NSMBW: Use tilting controls that CAN not be done on a standered controller. CANNOT fact
Would you want to go back to standered controllers? no

If a driving game that can replicate driving a real car like mario kart wii.
Would you want to go back?

If a game that can replicate aiming with a gun
Would you want to go back?

If a game can replicate sports
Would you want to go back?

no,No and NO!

They seem like afterthoughts because we are only in the begining. It won't be long beofore wii starts doing things
the HD twins can never do without add ons

When you think about the wii is the only one really pushing on how we play games. It won't be long beofore standered controllers
become obsolete. We will only hear them from echos and retro comeback and for special purposes. Just like joy sticks.
They will become standered if the wii continues to be sucessful

Do you play SSBW with Wiimote? :o.

The Wiimote isn't as good in some genres like fighting and action/adventure .

I kinda like this thread .... well not exactly.

Someone lock this thread...

they still make great games, gotta give them that

Yeah right play Mario Galaxy in HD on PS3/360... I can just imagine how much lag that game would have not to mention all the "freezing" it would have.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

*Sigh*

Why do threads like these keep getting tons of attention? Don't like peanut butter? Don't eat the damn peanut butter. Simple as that. Nothing, I repeat with capital letters to appear professional, NOTHING to discuss about!
