Lol did someone seriously say Mario is more hardcore than MGS?

What is your definition of hardcore?

Mario is as mainstream as hardcore. His games are far more difficult than the MGS solid serie.

I'm a Wii supporter and all, Mario is my favourite game series, but we have to be fair, you have made a wrong statement here...yes mario is mainstream but not at all more difficult than MGS, maybe in Lost level/SMB3 times, nowadays it's a quite easy game.

I don't know if I disagree or not, SMG for instance is harder than MGS4 on it's easiest level. But these require such different skill sets it's hard to compare. I would say that SMG is more "hardcore" than MGS4 because it simply has MORE gameplay. Therefore more hours are spent playing it. If hardcore just means "Guns, cursing and blood" then MGS4 is more hardcore.

Take MGS4s final boss down on the hardest difficulty and then tell me what game is harder.

I could never handle playing that game on the hardest level, I just played it to get the story. But that's not what I'm saying, I'm saying they require completely different skill sets. I have played way more shooters for the last few years than platformers, so SMG is currently kind of difficult, whereas my skillset would probably lend itself to beating the last boss in MGS4 (unless you're talking the fist fight with liquid) than SMG.

Of course MGS has to be played at the adequate difficult level (hard or more), on easy settings is the equivalent to play NSMBWii using only the super guide.

And I alwys thought that hardcore has nothing to do about blood and guns but more about the skills and practise you have to put in the game (Ikaruga is more hardcore than any HD fps in my opinion). MGS does not fit in the "guns and blood" description, it's about planning your moves, studing the enviroments, timing and only in the plast place action and shooting (at least on hard>).

The things we learn... now difficulty = hardcoreness
Well, I guess MGS4 is a kiddie game then, since it's nowhere near as hard as hmm... Contra?
And MGS2 is a babies games, since it's much, much easier than... pac man.

Mario Galaxy is hardcore as hell, period. Each jump requires precision - precision that my mother, your aunt and everybody's little brother lack.

Contra aka (Probotector) is most definitely more hardcore then MGS4... it took me years beating that

In your PS2 you'll never play a Sumer Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, RE: Remake, Star Wars: Republic Comando, Zelda Wind Waker, Halo 1 or 2... and a lot of more.

What i mean is, if you really want to play a lot of good games, you have to buy more than one single console.

This gen the Wii was given to me for free by some friend of my mothers. So I got lucky I guess.
