Story sounds intense!
This might upset some of the titles in the top 8 stories in games thread.

God nintendo sure lack originality, same dull story over and over.

Remember in Mario 64 there were no entry cinematic, nothing. They don't lack originality, it's just Mario. Zelda and Metroid have far more deepness in their stories.

because Zelda and Metroid have oscar worthy stories...

So Uncharted does? A story with tons of stereotypes.

Yes, Zelda and Metroid have really good stories and I don't feel the need of a story in Mario games, all I need is to play and have fun. Some games are designed like that.

Then, how on Earth is that so important to have a deep storyline for that game? The first one showed there is no need.

@NYANKS

It's perfectly fine to be excited about SMG2's story, because that means that the game won't be about story, but gameplay.

I disagree man...The gameplay of Mario games are already top notch, what is lacking is a storyline. I thought the intro for Galaxy was epic, but the overall narrative was lacking (like with all Mario games). Disney animations appeal both to the fairytale, whimical senses but have awesome narratives as well. The only thing stopping Nintendo standing equal to Disney is their inability to write a good (heck, decent) narrative.

Actually, I would say that for the majority of classic Disney animations someone other than the Disney company wrote the narratives. For example, The Brothers Grim, Hans Christian Anderson, Lloyd Alexander, T. H. White, Collodi, J. M. Barrie, etc.

The best story ever!

And that's NOT sarcasm!

Mario needs a new girlfriend.. Peach is too high maintenance..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

@contestgamer

mario games have never had a story (save for the usual obviously). if you buy a mario game for a story than you missed the point by a LONG shot.

How is the star festival happening again? Doesn't it take place every 100 years?

If so, Mario and Peach sure look good for their age XD.

the sotry is more random and awful, luckly the gmaeplay is wayyyy more than enough to make this my favorite game of the gen, and yes I like the cinemas

Of course the story is really awful, but we don't need it anymore.

See ya next gen. Miyamoto will have to come up with something unique for Mario. We might see.
