Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy Showdown Round #4 -- Rate FF4 & FF3!

Yeah, if you're going by the fact that they weren't originally released in the West, II,III, and V could share a thread. But IV and VI REALLY deserve they're own threads.

For me, III gets an 8. I'm currently replaying it on the DS and enjoying every minute of it.
IV ties with another title in the series as my second-favorite FFs, and I could give it a 10 for doing everything right. However, I don't want to be 10-happy and I'll reserve that score for my #1. Thus it's a 9.5 in my book.

FFIII 7/10

FFIV=

alright a 10/10

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

FFIV: 10/10 It's still my favorite in the series. It has one of the best cast and stories in the series. There wasn't one character in the cast that I didn't like and there is usually one character in game that grates me nerves. The DS remake was nice but the uneven difficulty was the only turn off. The Japanese original version still holds up well even now.

FFIII: 7.5/10 I've played both the NES original and the DS remake. It was a great game for the time but even with editions from the DS remake it hasn't aged well. Still a good RPG overall. I heavily prefer it's successor in play style. FFV.

I clumped them as one is released inw est orignally other isnt. tthere is no point in making thread jst for ff2, 3 or 5 as they wernt in west originally, so i clump them with nearest numeral. Making a thread jst for ff2,3,5 wasnt gud as its not numerically correct in order (4 comes be4 5). sry if i hurt feelings this seemed like best solution. I will clump ffx with x-2 & ff12 with ff11 if it can make any of u feel better.

@akibafan

ok but what we're saying is that FF4 & 6 are so amazing they DESERVE their own threads!

But your reasoning kinda makes sense....but atleast make FF6 its OWN thread.

Combine FF5 with FFx-2 or something....or combine FF5 with FF9.

Final Fantasy IV 10/10
haven't played number 3

I'd give Final Fantasy IV a 10. In every category, the game excels. It features some of the series' best characters, music, narrative, consistency and overall atmosphere. My favourite Final Fantasy. My favourite game.

Final Fantasy III? Haven't played it through fully. Based on what I have played, it'd be low. Really low.

FFIII - 9/10

Final Fantasy III is the first good game in the series, at least in my opinion, and was an excellent conclusion to the series on the NES. The DS version only improves on the amazing gameplay, fun story, memorable characters, outstanding music, and engrossing world that is explored overall. I don't know what it is about this game, but whenever I play it, I just have so much fun. The only NES rpg that I have more fun playing than this game is Dragon Warrior IV, the pinnacle of NES rpgs.

FFIV - 3/10 (I wanted to give it a 2, but I had to refrain myself.)

Technically I played this rpg before FFIII, but FFIV is a MASSIVE let down following its amazing predecessor. I've played the SNES version, the GBA version, and the DS version... I've tried to like this game, I really have, but the only way to describe my feelings about this game is the word "hate". Even avoiding my personal biases, I can't find any redeeming factors about this game. To call it average would be a joke.

Awful characters, painful dialogue, a mostly forgettable soundtrack (there are a few amazing gems though that feel out of place in the crap around it), a very boring world, an extremely shallow... and short story when you think about it, and gameplay that is for the most part... empty. Sure, there is the ATB, but that is it. The characters learn set skills at a pace, which isn't too big of a deal if the battles have strategy that make the most of the abilites, but for the most part battles are pretty much attack and heal fests. Most abilities aren't used. There is almost no sense of exploration, with the exception of a few hidden chests. Pacing is horrendous too... ugh, I feel like I am going ADD on all the flaws with this game, I'll just stop before I tear out anyone's heart.

And no, I'm not trolling. Just my honest opinion.

Even though I can't fathom some of your complaints.

Would you like to share the paper bag I'm currently hyperventilating into?

. . .it's okay. . . it's just an opinion. . . (my mantra right now)
