Forums - Sony - Are you impressed? Best looking shooter Ive seen yet

About the realism bit; I think we're quite a ways from realistic games yet. I'm currently playing Crysis, which to everyone may seem and look like it's realistic, let me tell you: It truly is not one bit realistic! However good the meshes look and how sharp some textures (not all, trees look like Vietcong texturewise) look, the physics are plain stupid at times.
Shooting entire buildings to bits with a shotgun, felling palm trees with a couple of shots by a 9mm, cars that behave like the Wipeout vehicles and so forth.
Trust me, there's a LONG way to go yet!
I'll write a review of "the most advancede game ever" when I've finished it.

PS: Did you guys hear? Deus Ex 3 is officially underway!! Rejoice!!

Any idea what ammo you need to cut down a Palm tree? Can they make it realistic and keep it fun? I don't really want games that are too realistic as it takes away from the game.  We only have flight sims on the PC instead of the GREAT arcade fighters back in the late 90's due to a constant demand for Realism :(

I still have to get around to playing Deus EX, I have it in my DVD rack unopened and unloved.

@ Vengi: Ahh, Ace Combat... Good point about the flight sim, which is the most tedious thing to do this side of laundry...
I suppose a completely realistic FPS would nullify it's own point; you'd get killed after 10-12 kills even if you were elite.

You haven't played Deus Ex yet?! Get to it man! It's... epic in a sense no other game before or after in the genre (s) has come close too! The sequel is a letdown though...

Amazing ... best looking game to date ... will it sell ... you can bet on it :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Looks great, I love the light, but definitely is not the best looking game to date...

So what, doesn't means that the game is going to be crap... or a success...

And yeah, I like the PS3. Is that bad?

You are so gonna get eaten alive here.

That's good though. We like crushing peoples' hopes and dreams.

Bingo just get used to the fact that wii fans dominate here (360 fan here, soon to be wii this christmas, and ps3 soon or next christmas)

You either agree or get crushed, its sad. You either say nintendo rules or get banned (i kidd) but seriously their domination is unquestionable.

I'm starting to see what you mean.

I somehow think I won't get "eaten alive" though.  Just a hunch.

Graphics don't matter when the series still sucks.

No, I'm just messing. It DOES look good, although I'd say I don't like some of the style.

Killzone liberation was one of the best psp games out.

Don't take this as trolling, because I'm not.

But you KNOW that PSP lacks in games, and with Killzone having a bad reputation, what you just said could easily just mean that everything PSP has is extremely subpar.

 Just sayin'.

On topic: Is Killzone 2 bringing any new content into the FPS realm or is it just trying to be pretty? Because that's where I think Crysis really takes the cake. Beautiful graphics and I really like the suit concept, with the different limited abilities and all.

Once again, comparing Crysis on max settings to Killzone is pretty ridiculous.

But why do any of you care? If you want good graphics go outside, you can't play graphics and so on.....

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Agreed.  I did on page 1 just to make a point in regards to the title.  Beyond that, comparing consoles to PCs for game/video quality is unfair.

Weather Manipulation... but whether this effects core gamplay or not... or whether it's just something you need to do to fufill scenario objectives have yet to be seen.  It has some pretty interesting options though.  (Rain making mud, making it slower to move, making some weapons less effective.  Thunderstorms having a rare chance to strike people... or possibly being harnassed for lightning canons.  Fog making HTH more viable/make you feel your playing a game from two generations ago.)

There are indeed a lot of Wii fans here, some of which gave me a hard time as well at first. But when you get to know them, discussons takeon a different tone, and many of the users here are very good at good old fashioned debatingwhen given the chance.  Don't be afraid to back up your favourite brand, I'm a Sony guy myself.
