Forums - Nintendo - Urgent Monster Hunter question!

I suppose this goes for all Monster Hunter games: How does armor work in this game? I can now purchase a pretty expensive armor but it has all values (fire, electricity, etc) at -1 (negative). Another item has all values at 4. What does this mean? Is 4 better than -1? Does 4 mean the armor prevents 4 damage in general, or compared to my current armor? Or are negative values better, like in D&D?

Please help, confused here!

Why do you have the game already?

It came out today?

Because I have a super awesome girlfriend who reviews (mostly Wii) games and often gets the games a week early.

I'm already 5 hours in.

Minus means you are more vulnerable to those elements where plus you are more resistant. So yeah 4 is better than -1.

Thanks!

I wonder why some armors have all elements at -1... Those are some worthless armors then... What's the point of them if you'd be better of wearing nothing?

Is that the same girlfriend that beats you in Mario Kart Wii most of the time?

Hah! You're just a jealous Australian.

Stuff with negative elements are usually used for other things such as... Gathering herbs or something, you can get armour sets that have like.. negative every element but will give you faster gathering times, or will let you gather more than usual.

Sometimes you can risk it, some armours give you 1 extra carve! But they also are usually low on elemental defense.

:)

Of course I am jealous. Not only do you MH3, but you also know at the very least one woman who uses the manual setting in MK Wii. All ladies I know stick to the automatic option, makes it all the easier for me to brag about my victories.

Yes. I am one lucky dude.

I'm pretty much covered... Are you enjoying the game so far, Chrizum?

That's actually a pretty sensible setup, that you'd have to sacrifice combat ability for noncombat perks, or vice versa.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
