Well, I kinda gave up on making these kind of polls here on VGChartz. I think it was d21lewis that pointed out if you made a poll that said something along the lines of:

OT: When MS stops making the 360, the PS3 will pass it 6 months later.

The Gamecube was last in the last Generation of consoles,and look what happened to the Wii this gen ,its miles ahead so who comes second dosent matter does it ?

Well, Microsoft is going to need a big time new ip from somewhere that will set the world on fire or a big new exclusive other than what we know about now to stay ahead.

They will get spikes when Halo: Reach and Gears of War III and maybe when Natal comes out.

The fact that Gears III, according to the trailer the last one in the series, is coming out in April 2011 and it was the first big game on the 360 makes me think the next xbox could be coming out in November 2011.

I honestly think that the PS3 will not be able to catch up to 360 in terms of sales, Because 360 have had a 1 year sales advantage, that alone already determines that the PS3 can not outsell the 360 overall. I also think the gap may increase this year and next year if Microsoft does the right type of advertisement for Halo Reach and Project Natal, In 2011 Gears of war 3 is going to be Big.

Although you have to be impressed with how well the PS3 is selling despite being priced higher then their competition, its an amazing accomplishment to be outselling the MS 360 when it is so much cheaper. Although this may contradict what am saying but there is still a chance for PS3 to exceed 360 in terms of sales but this would most likely be a long term thing.

EDIT: Halo Reach will definitely sell millions! but will it really sell Consoles? since its established Halo Fans have already owned a 360 consoles, Project natal, I pretty much do not know what will happen with Natal.. Will it have a success like the Wii? Maybe? High Risk High Reward, If it does not work out then Project natal is pretty much FAILED

Also Gran Turismo 5, My favourite simulator on consoles. Am starting to doubt that it may struggle to see success as it predecessor did, To begin with PS3 owners are known not to buy much games but there has been an improvement, Many GT fans probably moved to 360 and are playing Forza? So much doubt but i really hope Sony do market this game correctly to be able to sell millions in short amount of time and be able to shift consoles.

I will still stick with my OP, Sony won't be able to outsell 360 Overall but will do so in a Long term, Probably when the generation is over

Can it? Sure, Will it? Probably not

In the end thought if both companies make a profit on their consoles who cares? They both sold a lot, more than anyone would have expected for a second and third placed console.

Well, I don´t think that´s true...sure it helped the 360, but I don´t think that alone could´ve stopped the PS3 from overtaking the 360...the Wii also launched 1 year later than the 360 and passed it a long time ago.

I still say what determined the PS3 couldn´t outsell the 360 was the whole approach Sony took with the system...a ridiculous $500/$600 price tag was just what MS needed to stay ahead of Sony this gen.

If the PS3 had been released at $300/$400, I think the PS3 would be in second place by now...especially with the bad press MS got because of the widespread RROD issue.

BUT...because of their arrogance, Sony guaranteed themselves 3rd place.

It's most certainly possible. Especially if they can buy up some more hit software in a genre that isn't saturated.

Yeah i agree you with there, $500/600 Price tag was way too much! Considering how i live in the UK the price tag was 400 pound when i bought my PS3, If they released it around the $300 range it would of probably just about outsold the 360 overall
